Sorry to just quote one question but it will help to put the old PS2 is hard to develop for to rest.

Quote

CVG: Are you happy with the way PlayStation 2 has performed while constructing the game?

Hideo Kojima: It’s really not a matter of the hardware. Yes, I’m happy with PlayStation 2. I mean all three of the next generation games consoles, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Gamecube; they’re all the same. It’s hard to develop on all these machines.

You see the BIG man said they are all the same, so lets now put a stop to all this console fighting OK :D.

It\'s nice to hear that, but this dosen\'t mean ****. First off many other developers totally disgree with that. Therefore he is only one of the many that out number him. I respect Hideo Kojima point of view, but i take it with a grain of salt.

Ah dear looks like i can\'t even try and bring PEACE to this Beloved Forum of ours.

Look what he SAID is 100% True.
BECAUSE AT TIMES <======= times being the key word
THE X box will be hard to develop for

The Nintendo Gamecube will be hard to develop for

The Playstation 2 Will be hard to develop for

it\'s a fact of life Games, just don\'t develop themselfs and it ant as easy as some people clame it is.

anyone who says its ALWAYS easy to develop for COLSOE IS A FOOL !

Let\'s not forget that at first programmers detested the DirectX API

It\'s not about peace ooseven it\'s about the truth. Listen Hideo Kojima has his own opinions, but I was trying to point out many other developers have a different take on the issue, Just because One dev says there all the same doesn’t make it so. Especially when magority of others don\'t agree with him.

I respect the nature of the thread you created ooseven and the intentions you brought about it. Though I felt compelled to point out a few facts here.

I think its more damage control than anything. His last comments about PS2 development difficulty were some serious ammo for PS2 bashers. He doesn\'t want to give them more things to complain about. BTW, Wouldn\'t he have to be making games on all of the next generation consoles to know about their difficulty? I know about MGSX; but he said they were not going to work on that until MGS2 was finished. Kinda makes you wonder what he is talking about. Maybe its just wishful thinking by this Nintendo fan......or is it?.......yes it is......is it really? :D

i could care less if it is harder to program for the PS2 as i am not a developer - just as long as the devs make a good game then i will be happy

ok ill just ask nintendo to send you one ofr their DEv kits and then we will see if he is telling the turth or not.

DEV kits will always be hard to programme for at the earily stages regardless of what ever console

Even Earily games that look and play great have their problems in the development stage.

i mean WHY BASH MR Hideo ,he is JUST telling the Turth FFS....

Maybe or maybe not. Who knows he may not want to put any console down. Now even if he is telling the truth(which I find extremely hard to believe) this Truth as you put it, is only a matter of his perspective. In others words like I said earlier Just because Kojima says one thing doesn’t make it true.  He is only one developer with one point of view, when many others developers see this issue differently

You missed the point. He isn\'t programming for the NGC (and possibly Xbox) yet, he is just assuming things which is totally wrong. He should be making games for the system before he goes and runs his mouth like that.

Ok Accepted, if he hasn\'t even look at what The X box or NGC could offer, he is right in saying that all sytems have their problems regardless of who ever makes them.

it\'s just too easy these days to say that one system is easy or hard to develop "Just Because".

For example the fault could lay with the Dev kit or it could be the result of a developer needing to explore what a system can and can\'t do.

I think he was being diplomatic.  The way I read it, he was trying to avoid getting involved in this same old argument.  If he\'d said "they\'re all easy to develop for" he would have sounded like a fool or a liar.  Saying "they\'re all hard to develop for" was the smartest answer he could have given.

Is Silent Hill2 developed in the same department as MGS2??

Cuz SH2 and SHX is developed at the same time.

If so Hideo might have tried out the Xbox or something...
He is one of the best developers.
I think he knows what hes talking about.

Give it a rest!
