Thanx to datamage for posting this in conole debate but I know alot of you want to read this

taken for datamage\'s Console debate post

This coming from the X-box portion of IGN. Read the entire article yourselves. But of course, here\'s a tasty clip.

As a result, we\'d clearly say Sony walked away with the most impressive showing of this year\'s electronic Entertainment Expo. Not Gamecube. Not Xbox. The PS2 smacked them both down, no contest. They didn\'t exactly "steal" the show, they just came right in and took it.

Its refreshing to hear someone else say what I felt was true about this E3 instead of jumping on the Nintendo hype wagon. Sony and the PS2 finnally gets some kudos from a non PS2 based site

I feel Xbox has a similiar E3 this year as Sony had last year.

By this time Next year Xbox will be firing on all cylinders so its intersting to see another machine have similiar growing pains as the PS2 did

That is kinda ironic that it\'s in the XBOX section but it\'s good news either way;)

Hey ddaryl, thanks for posting it here. :) I\'m not sure why I didn\'t. I got too used to posting in the debating section.

I honestly do think Sony deserves the praise for this E3. All bias aside, (as I intend to purchase all consoles,) Sony had tons of great games to show, plus they showed that the developers can get past the difficulties of the PS2. One thing I\'ve noticed is that the textures used in PS2 games are slowly getting better.

Yep, last year SEGA ruled E3, but this year I feel Sony did a hell of alot better than NGC.

From what we witnessed, it seems as if Microsoft is more concerned with building up their model in Sony\'s image, and the fact is, the PlayStation 2 is doing just fine on establishing dominance. Trying to wholly steal the PS2\'s market share will be damned near impossible without some sort of unique hook. From where we\'re sitting, Microsoft is already lagging behind in several key areas such as: Internet functionality, 3rd party support, their user install base and public perception, and they just don\'t seem to want to concede that more is needed to get over this hump of consumer apathy. Until this happens, we\'ll still be looking forward to the Xbox, but the truth is, we will probably remain in the minority, and if this doesn\'t change, it will lead to larger troubles ahead.

Microsoft cannot bust up in the console business, and expect to the be the Sony of 95, becuz it\'s impossible in today\'s market.

I think that  the conlsole that has actually been released does the best at trade shows.  At a trade that last 3 days you can\'t just flash a box and expect people to be satisfied you have to show games!  And since sony has the most 3rd party support as well as a much improved 1st party showing (people need to stop bashing sonys games cause they got some ot the best gt3, tm:b, and J&D just to name a few). also they\'ve been out for a while so the games that to longer to develope which are usually the better ones were ready to show.

The trend shows, liek they mentioned, in the dreamcasts last E3.

I suppose it all depends on how you look at it when you are trying to determine who stole the show.  When I think of a console making a huge impact at E3 I think of a console that presents the most surprises.  IMO the gamecube did in fact steal the show due to the fact that most people didn\'t know what to expect from Nintendo and what we got was simply amazing.  We all knew what to expect from Sony and they delivered indefinitely with a great showing.  Then we have x-box which also had an impressive showing but was way less spectacular than anyone expected.  Nintendo impressed me most due to the fact that they have for the most part been very hush hush about the gamecube and have not tried to hype it up at all.  Almost everyone was surprised by what they had to show at E3 and it was in no way overhyped.  I\'m 100% happy with my PS2 and I don\'t plan on buying another console for at least another two years, so I speak a very unbiased point of view when I say that IMO Nintendo rocked E3 and stole the show.  But hey........that\'s just my opinion.  :)

I think it will, it has to be in the sense that it\'s capable of producing games far more seperiour than psx2. The HDD, unified Ram, and GPU will allow the system to do this. It all up to the developers now to take adavantage of it.

I believe XBOX will really shine and become very popular in about a year, cause then the games will be rolling.

I think all companies did pretty equally good. I think anyone who picks one company as doing much better than the others is on crack.
