What does Sony need to do to make the HD a runaway success?

I think the best way to get the HDs out to everyone is to package it with other games like Gohan said.

I think a big problem is the fact that it will be 40 gig.  Why would we need 40 gigs for a console game?  A 40 gig hard drive on a computer is hard enough to fill up.  It would be nearly impossible on a console.  Just to put it into perspective, a 40 gig HD is big enough to fit almost 9 full DVD games onto it.  That is way too big!

At the moment, Sony has 100% of the NextGen market, so they can do what they want to do.

When you say first, do you mean on your block? Because there are already terabyte storage devices out there. Just not for commercial use.

Episode games have not been tested in the console market, obviously. So, Sony would be pioneering this idea, and that in itself is very risky for them. Not saying it is a bad idea , though.

It is my understanding that Shenmue is an episodic game. Unless you are talking about something different. If so, please do not hesitate to smack me upside the head and call me a dufus.

Actually, you are right. I should of phrased it better.

Shenmue is an episodic game, but I was speaking of episode based games, where you download the future installments.

and you\'ll say ......

IF you want development in that AREA of the PS2 , we as customers have to pay.

And i for one think it is worth it 110%

 :rpissed: :mad:Remember i am still seeing people who are never going to Buy a HDD moaning about it\'s Development !

NOT ON this Thread but others like it ! :rpissed:

Cheapskates? I\'m buying $600 in systems (GBA, GC, XB) and $1000\'s on games this year. There\'s no compelling reason to buy a addon that won\'t be supported much.

Emperor... your thinking of Iron... I never said anything about the HD\'s size.

The ethernet adapter is being sold seperately from the Harddrive

SO IMO the HD will be of no use to Game Dev\'s besides making demos and extra levels available for DOwnload

For game content the HD will never come into play on the PS2 because it wasn\'t included from the get go.

I\'m confident that the Ehternet adapter will be a very succesful add-on though

Hey ddaryl do you think companies are going to release programs online so people can make mods and levels? That would be really cool and would sell more games and HDDs.
