From what I saw at E3 the game was hellafa popular in the three days there I could not get near that controller and there was always a crowd hanging around. Every game has a gimmick or a selling point I like the idea of games that push the boundries and add somthing new. This one is more extreme compared to whats out there now but stuff like this is the future of gaming. Another gimmick there was a new vid card(matrox) that allows you to use 3 monitors in order to get your right and left views without having to use the hat great for racing games and flight sims. When I told my friend that I tried it out and how cool its was he laughed his a$$ off calling it a waste. To each his own...I hope that developers keep looking for new ideas and gimmicks one will eventually become popular and attract a lot of gamers.  :smokin:

MS basically went to Capcom and said "Make your dream game. Whatever it may be"

They came up with Tekki. This game is guaranteed to not sell ove 50k worldwide, but what it does for MS is gain developer confidence that they will support the creators vision. It also gains Japanese mindshare, since this is by most accounts an excellent game, and very Japanese-centric. It is beautiful, tough, and a mech game. What could be better for mindshare than a game like that? Especially for Japanese consumers. It helps it to overcome the "American system with American games" stigma.

A better game to gain mindshare would be an epic RPG.

A fraction of the cost, 10X the sales, and much more mindshare.
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

m$ does not need gimmick titles that give a dev artistic freedom
they need guaranteed million sellers

tekki is not a system seller

Amen to that. People do not buy a system because they think MS will support a developers vision, all because of a $250 "gimmick title". People, including the Japanese would buy the system if there was one killer game that tended to the needs and wants of the target audience, in this case an RPG for the Japanese.

Then again, I think MS should been working on an epic RPG from the start, so that they had one ready for the Japanese launch. If nothing else, they should of been pushing for a third party to develop one for the Xbox. Instead, they\'ve ignored what the Japanese want for the most part.

I don\'t know how they ignored what the Japanese want when they have approached Square and Enix about making RPGs for the,. Sega and GameArts have probably been asked, too. These are the only companies that can consistently sell RPGs in Japan. You think if MS had an epic RPG, even an EXCELLENT one, it would\'ve sold anything? This is an american console in Japan, probably one of the reasons why some companies refuse to make games for it.

I\'ll agree with that also. Part of the stigmata of being an American company over in Japan is hurting them, but another part of it is simply they have nothing that is truly appealing to the Japanese gamers. Honestly, I think the Japanese launch was a half-baked idea on MS\'s part and now they need to play catch up in the worst way over there and a gimmick title like this isn\'t going to help them in the long run, now are is it?
