my problem with the aesthetics of osx is it\'s to kiddle looking, XP even more so.

I hate OS\'s that have bright backgrounds in the applets etc... I prefer dark backgrounds with lighter text. What I would love if apple would give the option like XP does to change the look with a different theme, a dark professional one.

So far my Ubuntu(linux distro)and fedora does all this sadly it\'s linux(not a mainstream OS)

Dude...when\'s the last time you kept up-to-date reading Apple news? I have two different subscriptions to Mac magazines and I frequent Apple news sites all the time because I still like Macs and I find it interesting.
Well congrats on your two magazine subscriptions. I also frequent Mac news sites and blogs and have done so for years (even though I only recently got a Mac). I still very much doubt that OS X can "be very easily hacked". Sure it\'s not invincible but I\'ve NEVER come across anything stating it being "VERY EASILY hacked". Somehow you haven\'t provided any sources for your statement yet, so I\'ll just take it that you are in fact the one with your head in your ass.

But you\'re so l33t so I must be wrong. After all, I believe the hype!111.

EDIT: I\'m done with this thread. I won\'t reply anymore so knock yourselves out. :)

My original point was that the panel is hardly a low end one, but I do admit as you pointed out that I haven\'t been keeping up with Dell\'s latest choices in Panels.

Regarding the bright UI, you might find it interesting that "supposedly" with Leopard a new UI will be introduced called Illuminous, or Luminous but it\'s supposed to look closer to the UI in Apple\'s pro line of programs like Shake for example. Weather it replaces Aqua or will accompany it like the Graphite Aqua theme nobody knows.

Regarding OS X being easily hacked, it\'s true but not that much. Like most security threats it get\'s blown out of proportion on just about every platform, but all in all OS X due to it\'s underpinnings and the fact a lot fewer people use it is and will be for a long while more secure than Windows.

The panel on my laptop is the highest end panel Dell offered at the time. They had 3 choices and I figured that if I got the best graphics card they offered, I may as well get the best panel. I\'m glad I did. My roommate has the exact laptop as me but its lower end and the difference on his monitor vs. mine is huge. Mine displays the colors much more crisply and vividly. The only downfall is it has kind of a glossy finish on the panel which is a pain in the ass to clean with some of the cleaners I\'ve bought for laptop panels.

Glossy panels are usually the best for pictures and editing etc..Of course there downside is they must be sheilded from light.

no-One if apple introduces a new theme that is much darker in nature with more of a pro look I might get myself a mac mini. OSX seems to be the next logical choice considering that Vista while pretty, is a disaster, it\'s buggy, coded sloppy, drm infected resource hog. As I mentioned While i am pleased with the Gnome desktop for Linux, it\'s by no means a practical mainstream OS. Linux is best for IT people and Ubber Computers enthusiasts.

I just hate how apple charges such a High premium for there hardware and why must they always fuse there computers in the mid range. Apple cannot replace the many functions that my IMB/PC is capable of, however allot of people now own both camps.

Dell\'s SXVGA laptop panels are very good, Dell has always offered some of the best laptop panels.
