TheOgodlyThing, we know it is using the beta hardware with half the power of the real Xbox. You don\'t have to tell us in every post. From now on, just assume that we know that, because most of us are sick of hearing it.
I am thinking it is going to turn out a lot like the PS2 did (here me out please.) One reason the PS2 suffered early on is because the Dev kits came way too late. I think what we are seeing now is what we\'ll see on the launch day, and we won\'t see anything take advantage of all that power until the second generation (again, it\'s a lot like the PS2 in that way). Of course, this is just speculation on my part just like you saying "Just imagine what the final version will look like, and how well it will perform, smooth as silk" is speculation on your part.
BTW, I am in no way doubting the Xbox\'s power. I think if they advertise right, they will easily steal the market from Nintendo this fall. Who knows, maybe Nintendo will take the path of Sega? (Ok, I know I\'m dreaming.
) The general gaming audience likes two things, good graphics and well known franchises (i.e. Mario). If they see that the Xbox can produce way better graphics than the NGC (which it can), they will be persuaded to buy the Xbox over the NGC.
You may be wondering, "So where\'s Sony?" Right now, I\'m thinking there is not much Sony can do to fight against this. With two new systems coming out, the hype for the PS2 will die down exponentially. All eyes will be on the Xbox and NGC. I think Sony is just going to have to sit back and hope it doesn\'t hurt them too bad. Until then though, Sony better be trying to sell the PS2 like mad if they want to compete this fall!
JC632X, I think that is just the demo. The final version looks great.
