well all i can say it was expected they would lose too much money and all if they sold it for less maybe a 100 bucks but theres no way that will be the deal

anyway i wonder if sony gets this bad feed back that they might cut the HDD to 20gigs and therefore cut the price

i don\'t know it seems like they should know what the deal is if they ask there fans anything
This Sig is a Work in Progress.

I\'ve posted this in another thread, but I might as well put it here too.

40 gig hard drive prices:

$359__10000 RPM
$279___7200 RPM
$249___7200 RPM
$239___7200 RPM
$224___7200 RPM (ebay)
$174___5400 RPM
$169___7200 RPM
$155___5400 RPM
$150___7200 RPM
$150_________________PS2 HDD
$144___7200 RPM
$132___7200 RPM (ebay)
$073___5400 RPM (ebay)
$050___5400 RPM (ebay)

(I just jumped around to see what the prices were.)

Those are some pretty expensive prices, a quick check at pricewatch shows a Seagate 40gb 5400rpm HDD for $79, and it is retail with a 3 year warranty.  Isn\'t the PS2 HDD a Seagate drive?  Oh, and I doubt the PS2 HDD is a 7200rpm drive.

I just went to directhit.com, typed in 40 GB drive, and these are the prices I got at about 4 or 5 different sites.
