I know someone who sold their PS2 the week after it launched for like $350. During the time he owned it, he played some of my DVDs. After he sold it, he took the money and bought a $150 DVD player.
He took that back too as he found out the hard way that the PS2 DVD player was a midrange quality DVD player and the cheap stand alone DVD player he got was no better than his VCR.
This was last year, fall of 2000, where as I mentioned before, the PS2 was of midrange quality. At the time the PS2 was revealed to the public(February of 2000), it was among the best DVD player out there. This year, with technology advancing at its current pace and computer chips getting cheaper, the quality of the PS2 as a DVD player certainly has its shortcomings. But what did you expect by this time?
BTW, my friend who sold his PS2 bought another.
