Cel-shaded, Zelda. Weird? Yes. Interesting? Of course. Somewhat dissapointing? Depends.
It depends on how you look at it. Of course, I think all of us would of prefered something along the lines of the E3 Demo. Yet, we are not getting that.
I\'ll admit, at first I was out-raged. I thought Nintendo had done and killed a great franchise. My first reaction was somewhat along the same as when I heard Metriod would be a FPS - which by the way, is something I still refuse to accept . I was disgusted and pissed off. But then I went and downloaded the movie from IGN and I was surprised. Surpised that my disgust and anger went away. The cel-shaded cartoon look actually serves the Zelda enviroment quite well.
Ryu mentioned in another thread that Zelda has always been somewhat comical and cartoon\'ish. He is totally right and this graphic style fits Zelda perfectly. Sure, I am still not thrilled that I can\'t tell if Link is a boy or girl - who knows, maybe Nintendo is hoping to have a cross gender Link and surprise us all yet again.

Yes, Nintendo has went and changed the graphic style. Yes, the E3 demo was freaking amazing. Everyone knows all this. It is also things that can\'t be changed. We now have a cel-shaded Zelda and, if I can say, a damn impressive looking cel-shaded Zelda (well, \'cept for our cross-gender Link). Nintendo has made a lot worse choices in the past (Metriod!..Damn you ! ) . I ask you guys this also, was you not excited about the game when you heard about the possible innovations in gameplay? What if they are true? Are you still going to refuse to play this game, simply because it looks "funny" aka cel-shaded? I would hope not.
Does it matter though? I mean, anyone who has watched the video can\'t deny that it looks like an actual cartoon and is simply amazing. Even though we all hoped for something else it looks like Nintendo has taken cel-shading and done an excellent job with it. And in the end, it is just graphics. If you don\'t like cel-shading, I can almost gurantee that the actual gameplay will be
fun . Something the Zelda series has always been known for.
If you haven\'t seen the video of it - I recommend you go to
http://cube.ign.com A.S.A.P and download it. Still pictures look crappy but when you see how fluid and the detail in the animation, it is quite stunning really.
