Relationships suck. Or I should say, I suck.
I\'ve been dating my current girlfriend for about seven months now. We never made it "exclusive" though, because I just got out of a three year relationship and the thought of being "exclusive" just freaked me out. I also refused to say the \'L word\' (love). She would tell me that someone asked her out or something and she always said no. I, for some reason, kept telling her it was okay and I understood if she wanted to go out with someone else - after all I am the first one she has had a serious relationship with. Well, you know what they say.. You can only encourage someone so much until they go out and do it.
Flash foward to lastnight (Saturday). She signs online because my phone is busy and asks me if I wish to meet her parents finally. I say sure and we all go out to dinner. Her father and I hit it off and her mother and I , well her mother didn\'t really like me, but oh well. I thought everything was perfect. Little did I know.. My girlfriend and I get alone for alittle bit and she tells me she went out with the other guy one day. I was shocked to say the least and felt my heart just totally drop. What I thought wouldn\'t bother me , infact totally destroyed me. It occured to me at that very mintue, the thing I said I didn\'t want, an exclusive relationship with her, is what I actually do want.
She felt bad about it and asked me if I was mad at her. I explained to her, I couldn\'t be mad at her. I in reality, encouraged her to go do it. I was mad at myself. She asked me why I never said I loved her and other things, why I avoided anything that was commited . She basically doubted that I was serious about her. She had her doubts on me, because I was an idiot. Sure, I would do romantic things like surprise her with gifts, but when it came to me saying I loved her or displaying a small amount of jealousy just to show I care, I never did.
We discussed things barely, before her parents found us off in a corner. Of course, we didn\'t discuss it with them there and decided that we would go out on her next day off and just discuss things. Say everything that needs to be said and see where it goes from there. I have confidence that when we discuss everything, her and I will end up commited to each other and so on. However, if we don\'t, I have no one to blame except myself. That is the whole point to this thread, don\'t be a total idiot and pretend you don\'t want something, to find out that you do when its too late. They say you live and learn from the lessons in life but I can say this is one lesson that I wish I would of avoided.
Just don\'t be an idiot and say what you have to say. Don\'t act like me. Because at this point, I am a complete idiot.
