Xbox shortage at launch?!!?!?!?!

Oh.....no not again first ps2 now xbox.  I hope this ain\'t true.  Thoughts.

Reuters reports that Microsoft might deliver only 300,000 Xbox units at launch, half the amount previously stated. Microsoft said it would ship 600,000 - 800,000 units back at E3, but analysts and Take-Two Interactive have been told differently.
An analyst at brokerage Morgan Keegan said he understood Xbox would launch with 300,000 units and adds that the estimate was as good as any on the market. An anonymous analyst said he has heard from game publishers and retailers that the Xbox would launch with 300,000 units. Take-Two Interactive president Paul Eibeler said he understood that Microsoft would ship with fewer units than planned.

If indeed Microsoft\'s launch numbers don\'t meet consumer demand, Nintendo could take the spotlight away from Xbox. The Nintendo GameCube is expected to launch with 700,000 units on November 18th.

GA will have more as it develops.

if microsoft plans on "doing what sony didnt" this is not the way to do it. and if this is true, then they are having problems with production or somthing and that means that they may not be able to have enough consoles to go around. IF they sell that many.

the spotlight will be taken off them and brought towards the PS2 HDD+eithernet adapter and to gamecube. this is not good news.

There aren\'t going to be any shortages.  The x-box won\'t sell 300,000 units for it\'s launch.  It\'s a new system with no pre-installed fan base.  People are expecting way too much this fall. :cool:

I think that deserves a WORD.  I don\'t see the Xbox\'s American launch being any better than Japan\'s NGC launch.

I thought all the xbox pre-orders had sold out???
Well thats what they say at TeamXbox forums.

All preorders are sold out.  There is an interview in at gamespot

--they can produce 150000 units a week aparently.  And let\'s not forget how the "shortage" of the PS2 helped sales.  Anyway, it doesn\'t matter to me.  If I get one, it won\'t be on launch day anyway.

So does this mean that now America is more hardcore video game players than Japan is? (I\'m comparing the NGC\'s launch numbers with the Xbox\'s future American launch numbers)

Wow, all of a sudden the PS2\'s mass production seems very impressive.

Yeah.... PS2 is looking like the king of the hill..... For now..... And hopefully, for a long time.

i think i will be playing my ps2 and a host of triple a titles and worry about x cube next year!

Well this is just a rumor that has been said numeros time and microsoft keeps saying they will deliver the amount of consoles they said they would deliver.

So until they say we can\'t make our numbers this rumor shall be sweep under the rug.

I wouldn\'t be surprised if this was a rumour that MS started to start building hype... Just like Sony did last year. People were rushing into stores making sure they got their PS2.

Could be... It might help their sales a little.

shortage or not, i will get a unit sooner or later, no rush.
I can live without one, i don\'t think i could say the same about a PS2.

As long as there are plenty when Jet Set comes out, I couldn\'t care less.
