I thought he demo was pretty good.  I don\'t think I\'ll buy it though.  I was luke warm, I\'ll rent it for sure though.

I like more action.  My concern with Ico was that the fighting seemed like an afterthought--so much so that there seemed to be no reason why it was there at all.  I guess it\'s good then that there seems to be so little of it.

I have a fear that it may get repetitve towards the end.  I guess I\'ll wait for a couple reviews.

I\'m gonna use the same explanation everyone else has used, it\'s a lot of fun but I cant quite put it into words, thast what some people have been saying and I agree, well it seems different from every other game I\'ve ever played so I love it, hopefully I\'ll be getting it tommorrow or wed.

Good question ddaryl, I showed the demo to my gf today telling her it was one of the most interesting game\'s I\'ve seen in a while. After finishing the demo she gave me back the controller and called me a retard.

Really when you break it down what you\'ve said in your original post is spot on - it\'s got a few puzzles, tomb-raider esque gameplay, decent graphics - sounds like a fairly unremarkable game. But I think the total package, with the odd story, the music, this massive abandoned castle, this waif of a girl you have to protect, and you being a 10 year old hero it\'s got a kind of ethereal feel to it that\'s hard for me to describe. I think it\'s getting the praise it has for that hard to define quality - it just has a different atmosphere to any other game I\'ve ever played.

However, with money and gaming time hard to come by these days I don\'t think I\'ll be buying this one for a few months - GTA3 and Devil May Cry are just around the corner and I have to review NHL 2002. I don\'t think ICO is the best thing since sliced bread like some gaming sites, but I do think it\'s a cool game.

But then again, maybe my girlfriend is right.....

This is what I feel about ICO too.  This game will touch you being a young hero and saving the angel looking girl.  Holding her hand and saving her from demons  that will take her away.  I\'m using an S-video cable and this game looks wonderful.  The most shocking is the water in the game.  Just jump in and watch it move.  Its as real as a system can get to date.  After you finish the ICO demo, you see some video of the the other levels in the game.  One word,  SWEET!!  ;)

I\'m using S-Video  as well, and I am impressed with Ico\'s graphics, but I more impressed with quite afew other PS2 games over Ico.

I personally wouldn\'t play a agme to hold a princess\'s hand and lead her out of a castle while fending off a few creatures with a stick

SO I guess its safe to say I am missing nothing with this game and its just not my cup of tea

Sorry lad I think its the opposite

If you really are into Ico then its because your getting old and need to play a simple room to room puzzle adventure, because too much excitement an panic action would cripple your ticker

Enjoy the game guys I\'ll read what you all have to say about it later on in the week. In the meantime I think I\'ll choose NHL 2002.

That is not true...

Oh well.  I\'ve played too many fast-action killing spree games lately.  ICO is a nice, calm change.

Although we\'ve had our differences as of late, I think this is a really excellent question.

Much like the of the IGN editors inability to take screenshots and movies that accurately show the greatness of the game, I am also finding the same difficulty putting into words exactly why this game is so grand.  Perhaps it\'s the concept behind the game that is really original.

Think about it for a moment.  What other games require you to break out of a veritable prison with a helpless being in tow?  I honestly can\'t think of any.  We all know Zelda requires people to enter castles, defeat the enemy, rescue the princess and then restore freedom to Hyrule or something of that nature, but rarely has a game built upon the concept of escape with being a bodyguard as the chief source of the combat engine.

The chief responsibility of the main character behind most games is to ensure your own survival and in affect, saving many others, but in ICO, your job is to ensure the survival of another with your life being the one that\'s expendable.  It\'s not like those cheap escort missions present in Starfighter or Ace Combat, but rather a type of mission bent on mercy where you actually care for the "cargo" in tow.

ICO has touched me enough to make me WANT to save the girl from all harm and has made me deeply concerned with her safety.  Concerned enough to the point that to see her in the clutches of the "smoke demons" is almost too difficult of a site to bear and I immediately feel the need to exact revenge against them.  Kind of like the "Get away from her you B*TCH!" mentality found between Newt and Ripley in Aliens.

I suppose the idea of protecting a precious cargo from all harm is fairly unique to me especially since I feel the need to assist the plight of the cargo.  I know I don\'t feel attached to a precious mineral in the cargo hold of some ship a light year away, nor do I feel the urgency to save Princess Zelda from Ganon because I know that after 6 dungeons of exploration, 50 items required, and enough land traveled by foot to make even Forrest Gump jealous, she\'ll still be there even as I effortlessly search for that last piece of heart or rare item.  ICO however, does not have the luxury of time, it has a level of urgency that just makes you feel like you need to work to make sure she\'s ok.

Or maybe I\'m just full of crap, but that is just my opinion.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.

    1. Puzzles are fun, not too hard, and not too easy...
    2. Story line will be great
    3. Graphics rule
    4. Easy to play, yet puzzles make it harder.
    5. Really fun.

Over all..... I think the puzzles and story are key.... And I will enjoy those main things in the game.... ddaryl, you might not be missing out on a whole lot..... Game\'s not that great, but still is fun, and having fun is the main part of a video game.... You must have fun!;)
.... take the skin and peel and back...

now doesn\'t it make you feel better?
