Ddaryl is right.  But things could change drastically.  In a market that is expected to grow by 50 million gamers, 17 million consoles isn\'t that impressive.  New and more people will be playing games and they won\'t be previous Sony console owners just as some of the PSX gamers weren\'t traditional console players.  The majority of the PS2\'s have been sold to Sony fans not those 50 million new gamers.  Those 50 million gamers are up for grabs.
When all is said and done...the PS2 will be remembered as the console with the best games in Fall 2001.

Yeah your right by the Time the X box comes out, every PS2 in the World Will Be traded in all 17 million of them for X box\'s, and good old Billy will have the CEO of Sony Wipped naked through the streets of LA.............

It\'s no mystery that a Swedish journalist could mistranslate something from an AMERICAN site.

Yeah, and also remember that Europe isn\'t getting any new console this year.  Sony will own this Christmas.:fro:

So you only bought a PS2 because everyone else did?  That\'s what it sounds like.

I don\'t think that was directed towards me, but I\'ll answer it anyways.  I bought a PS2 because I was so happy with my PSX purchase.  I had faith in Sony after their 32 bit generation success.  I also like the games that were coming out to it.  Some of them were dissapointing (The Bouncer), but for the most part I was very happy with my PS2 purchase.  And this fall makes me even happier. :D

Why did you buy a PS2 DirectXbox?

I\'m starting to question the credibility of Sonyweb and Gamerweb.  IGN posted these exact figures last week, yet they were consoles shipped.  I think Sonyweb is just bending the truth a little to make its readers happy.

And I think they got that Jet Set Radio Future coming to the PS2 info from Magic Lamp (Err, Magic something.  I can\'t quite remember the name.)  More than half the PS2 sites out there have reported this news, but I won\'t believe it until it\'s posted on IGN.
