Damn you guys.

I just bought GTA3 today and instead of checking it out first (which I should be doing), I am actually going to write down my impressions to the PlayStation Business even, which I was luckily able to attend yesterday.
Since it would be far too much to write down everything, I will just stick to the games and perhaps at the end some of the stuff I was able to ask the folks of Electronic Arts, Konami, Activision and Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe at the roundtables. So here it goes, enjoy:
AirbladeNo idea if you any of you were able to play this game in the states, but just let me tell you, it looks awesome. I am not really into Tony Hawk style games, but this one really impressed me. The graphics are top notch, although they have this funny greyisch look to them, it still looks damn impressive. Guess a bit a different graphics style there, but it still is very impressive to look at. Unfortunately, I can’t say too much to the gameplay since I didn’t play it myself. Just watched some foe playing in front of me, but it looked fun as hell. If you see it at your local stores, better give it a good look!
Wipeout FusionI tell you, if there’s any game that interests me most, it ain’t Silent Hill 2, Devil May Cry or any other than Wipeout Fusion. It rocks. When I saw it at the stand, I really couldn’t believe it, so I went up to it and gave it a try. The graphics are truly amazing and the loops have to be seen to be believed. It’s one hell of a rollercoaster game and the time and effort SCE Liverpool is putting into this one is really paying off. But what makes this game so special is the unbelievable adrenaline pushing speed at which you fly through the courses. The framerate is constant high, although I did catch a quick slowdown at one part of the game (where another ship uses the earthquake weapon at you and it comes rolling). Other than that, I think this game is will be a killer when it launches in November here in Europe. No idea though when it will be in the states though… but I am sure it will come soon enough.
World Rally ChampionshipIf there’s any other game that tops the graphics of Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, this is the one. Honestly, yet another game which was too good to be true, but actually sitting there with the dualshock in my hands was just awesome. And let me tell you this, the graphics are mind-blowing. The cars look so real and the landscapes are even better. Simply the best visuals seen in a racing game on PS2 to date. I can’t really comment on the damage features yet, since I am not sure if I had them switched off or not. From what I did see though, the cars did show damage (windscreen shattered etc), but not actually deforming. While racing, you can choose between a few different views. The one that’s most impressive is the one where the camera is just behind the driver and the instructor. You can both see them, the driver steering and shifting gears, while the instructor seats there giving you the necessary instructions. Terrific! The handling is also superb from what I can tell…everything being really realistic. This one’s a killer… and it will be out this November in Europe.
Jak and DaxterWow, the day just got better and honestly, I am running out of words for these games. This one is unbelievable and everyone seemed so impressed by the graphics and style of gameplay. But I am sure you can see that on the videos too. What’s perhaps left to say is; it plays like a dream. It’s so fluid and everything is moving. Just as a reminder; there are absolutely no loading times what so ever. The graphics are amazing and definitely worth your money when it comes this fall.
BurnoutI was already impressed by the movies I saw, but watching this game being played in front of you… it looks so much better. It’s incredibly fast and the motion blur effect, which takes place when you crash, looks awesome too. I won’t say more to the gameplay, since you’ve probably all read it already on IGN. Again, definitely a game worth your money!
Ace Combat 4Since most of you have already been able to play this, I will just stick to the basic. This game’s graphics is amazing. Honestly, when I played it myself, I didn’t think it would be that good… the visuals are so impressive and the textures are very very good. Great stuff Namco.
Well, that’s all for now. I will put up a sheet with the newest release dates for us Europeans another time. I guess it’s about time that I play GTA3… can’t wait!!!
Oh… almost forgot:
Metal Gear Solid 2 and Silent Hill 2 will be both unedited and uncut in Europe. They will be released for an audience 18+ of age. Silent Hill 2 will be released in November, MGS2 in February and will be both in English with subtitles depending on where you live.
