Max Payne screens, not PC :)

Judging jaggies by screen shots doesn\'t make much sense, neither does comparing a TVS resolution to what we\'d see on a monitor. Bland textures? I guess if you PC players say so, they look good to my untrained eyes. As far as I can tell those dark PC shots of the game posted here don\'t show much of anything.

30fps, like Halo? ;)

Cheap shot, couldn\'t resist

Since I no longer play PC games to me ports are a good thing, crap or not.

If I\'m not mistaken, this game was built from the ground up for PS2 hardware.  I remember getting in a big argument with some PS2 fanboys on the IGN boards about this game.  I told them that it will be another Giants-esque quickie port, but they insisted that the developer would be building it from the ground up for the PS2...I guess their wrong, or at least I hope their wrong.  Just for the record, an interview on IGN said that the Xbox version will look much better than the PC version and that\'s understandable since there\'s one Xbox spec and many different PC specs.
When all is said and done...the PS2 will be remembered as the console with the best games in Fall 2001.

When will you learn.. Those guys at IGN (most of em) are wannabies.. They THINK they know everything..

Ive spent some time there, and I cant belive how much crap they make up.. (ALL forums, PS2, Xbox, GC ect)

Max Payne was a straight port from the PC version.. With some changes of course..

according to one of the dev team at Remedy the main differences between the two versions will be....

"Memory - Since the PS2 only has 32MB of onboard memory, the game code and content must be optimized and/or cut to fit in, or at least split into smaller bits. For example, the levels have been split into three or four parts.

Resolution - The television resolution is a lot smaller than the most standard PC resolutions today. The menus, the crosshair, and the graphic novel pages need to be updated with regards to this.

Controls - Playing Max Payne with a DualShock controller is quite different from playing with keyboard and mouse. A workable control scheme must be created.

Rendering hardware specs - Since certain rendering options that are available for PC are not available for PS2 and vice versa, the rendering pipeline needs to be modified.

that was posted a a while back, someone also suggested IGN\'s preview was actually based on the PC version
