Final Fantasy X
« on: December 08, 2001, 07:28:44 AM »
I have the demo of this game. Just got it yesterday as a matter of fact. And I have to say this game is breathtaking! I poped in my demo disc and let it play and the intro is fantastic. Although the final game probably will be much different. This games graphics, has MGS2 beat..... And I own it, love it, and play it everyday. But FFX, I was amazed watching this games cut scenes. And what I thought was so amazing on this demo I got at this one part right before you start, it goes from cut scene to gameplay and I COULDN\'T TELL!!! This game is Amazing! I can\'t wait to own this game.

I agree with you on the CG movie, is the best I ever seen than any CG yet!  The graphic is great, but not that excellent and I notice the difference between CG and realtime graphic.  The lighting effects, real character shadow, hair move during wind blow, and other effects might be missing in realtime.  But to keep everything in a constant 60 frames per second, it really worth it.  I have to say better than ff8 which have horrendous load times and crappy framerate but better graphic which i think its really not worth the effort.  Never have I seen any games that runs so  fast and smooth in 60 fps, (beside gt3) and ffx is one of them.

Dajo41, to tell the difference between CG and realtime, look at Tidus hair and outfits (shirt and short).  In CG, you can see his hair shines and move as the wind blow, you can see his reflection and shadow and his shirt and short wrinkle and move as the winds blow.  In realtime, Tidus have black circle spot shadow and his hair and outfit doesn\'t move at all.  That includes any other characters too.  Even Yuna\'s necklace, and Lulu necklace that they wore, it was a bitmap paste against their neck instead of a seperate polygon.  So their necklace doesn\'t move back and forth like physic.  (But I realize Ifrit necklace is drawn in real polygons and it was cool to see it move in motion).  But unless you are picky and paid a lot of attention, you won\'t notice the graphic difference.  Heck when I first got psx, i play games and I didn\'t notice there is fmv and realtime and i thought the graphic looks the same.
Whoops, too much writing...

Well thx for the long drawn out explanation..... But I\'m not stupid dude. I was simply giving the game a very good compliment with my statement. And the part where I said I couldn\'t tell the difference, well it was a little exagerated on my part. You can tell, but it\'s very VERY nice detail. And as far as what you say about realtime this realtime that. Your not close enough to see the types of detail your talking about during auctual gameplay. SO it really doesn\'t matter. Unlike in MGS2 where your are closer to your character and can see hair move and your bandanna blowing in the wind. Thats where MGS2 beats FFX. In character detail. What\'s really nice in FFX, that in realtime you can see the leaves on the trees blowing and the grass swaying in the wind. That\'s detail..... Look it goes like this, there is always someone going to pick out the SMALL unnoticible flaws in a game. whoopdie doo!! This game is simply AMAZING!! That\'s my opinion on it and nobody has to like it.  And I WILL stick by my statement, that these graphics are better than MGS2. And I myself would never have thought I would say that till I seen with my own eyes the playable demo of FFX. I will say this though, as far as detailed gameplay graphics MGS2 wins hands down.... But the movies are WAY more graphicly advanced than the movies (cutscenes) in MGS2. I LOVE MGS2!!!!! But FFX is simply BREATHTAKING!! You\'ll all see soon. The game (not demo) will be even better. I can\'t wait. Have fun kiddies!!! I\'m off to bed.

Okay.  Still, I think MGS2 did a better job in graphic, medium polygons but detail enough for better physics.  But I have to agree with you about fmv, ffx is the best yet i seen so far for a CG quality.  Beautiful, smooth, and just darn eye candy.
