rastalant:Its obivious that sega hasn\'t played seen or played doa3 yet. Cause doa3 graphics even stomp on vf4. I mean I still say the ps2 could not produce a perfect port of doa3. I just don\'t see that happen.
I find it ironic that you say Sega hasn\'t seen or played DOA3 yet, then you say DOA3 graphics stomp on VF4 PS2 graphics when you haven\'t even seen or played VF4 PS2. I\'m not saying that I believe AM2 completely (they could be pulling a "DOA3" by hyping up their game way more than they should be), but I\'m not going to judge the graphics or discredit AM2 until I have actually played the game. Who knows Rastalant, in one month, you might be eating those words.
GmanJoe:Virtua Fighter 4 is simply gonna be the best fighting game out there. Tekken fans will finally have a change of heart when they try it out on PS2.
I\'m not so sure about this. Sure, I, a hardcore Tekken player, am counting down the days until VF4 is released. But the steep learning curve might be more than most Tekken fans are willing to deal with. I don\'t know how hard it is to pick up because I haven\'t played it very much, but from what I\'ve heard, it is pretty hard.
Simply put, VF1 through VF3 - the gameplay play took you to deeper waters. No button masher can challenge a grand master of any VF series.
That can be said about every fighting game. DOA, Tekken, SC, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Super Smash Bros, etc, are all like that. If it wasn\'t like that, then what\'s the point of even practicing and learning new moves?
I would like to hear more about this..
SEGA is after all a 3rd party multiconsole developer..
And now they are sweet-talking PS2 more than ever..
E3 2002 will be very interesting.. indeed.
But would they be sweet talking the PS2 as much if its userbase wasn\'t this big? I doubt it. IMO, their main interest in the PS2 is the userbase. If that was gone, their nice comments about the PS2 would be too.
Rastalant:Gee thats why the dc version of doa2 looks better than the ps2 version. After two chances on it.(japanese version and usa hardcore).
You can\'t be serious. I thought this debate was settled last year when DOA2:HC came out, but I guess you missed it. DOA2:HC is graphically superior to DOA2 on the Dreamcast. If you want to have another debate about this, we can. But I don\'t think it really has to do with this thread.
Its first generation software and vf4 is 2nd generetion software and even that doesn\'t approach the beauty of doa3.
Again, what are you basing this on? The handful of VF4 PS2 screenshots? The limited movies of the far-from-complete version of the game?
We all know the story about ps2 textures don\'t we?
Obviously not all of us do. The PS2 is fine with textures when it\'s used correctly. Naughty Dog said the PS2 is capable of around 45 MB of textures at once -- only 15 less than the Xbox. (They actually said more than that, around 55-60 MB, but I think some of the memory they claimed the PS2 had was just BS). Yes, it\'s a lot harder to tap the power of the PS2 than it is to tap the power of the Xbox, but it seems as though Sega is catching on quite nicely (maybe they\'re used to programming for complicated consoles because of the Saturn?
)
Remember when the PS2 only had 4 MB of texture? Boy how the times have changed.
There\'s no solid evidence that DOA3 could be done on PS2 or not. Because we haven\'t seen DOA3 put on PS2. And even if they put it on PS2, who\'s to say they\'ll spend a significant amount of time on graphics? Meh.
Exactly. Chances are, we will never get a fair comparison of DOA3 Xbox vs DOA3 PS2, and even if we did, it probably wouldn\'t look as good as the Xbox version because for all we know, the developers won\'t put nearly as much work into it as they did with the Xbox version. The best way to compare graphical capabilities right now is between DOA3 and the upcoming VF4 on the PS2. VF4 might or might not look as good technically. We will just have to wait and see.
