Madden 2002, lets talk.......
« on: January 02, 2002, 10:51:33 AM »
I just recieved Madden 2002.  To say the least I am fustrated.
This game is nearly impossible.  Granted I have not played it much but I am struggling to even score a TD in the normal game mode against the computer.  My buddies were over and they have quite a bit of exp. and We played 5 against the computer and could not even score.  Maybe I am just venting, but is anyone else having the same issue(s)?  Any Suggestions...Thoughts?

I know I need to play more for the exp. but this seems like a tuff game to play.

Learn the game of football.
Or go into training mode, its kinda like practicing, plus it tells you what the play does, when its affective, and when its not. You should do ok.

hrm...i\'ve only had it for a few days and i find it much harder than some of the other football games i\'ve played (i.e. Blitz, Fever, ect)  But i\'m slowly getting to the point where i can at least go point for point with the cpu.  Is it just me, or is the computers defense against the run too weak and against the pass to hard?

Work on your timing of pass routes, and you should almost always use L2 for route-based passing...when timed right, a good curl or post pattern can be near-automatic.  Remember that this game is based on real football, not like Blitz...nobody goes 29 of 30 in passing in a real game of football (at least not more than once)...just stick with it, and I also suggest playing against other people rather than the computer...that\'ll make you appreciate how deep this game is.

I know the basics of football.  However I do not know the defenses to the depth that this game is played.   I am now convinced that practice makes perfect.  I will stick with it and try the training mode some more.

I like madden, but its no fun ne more.  They are trying to make it too real with this momentum stuff.  NFL 2k2 rules my man.

The passing game is a lot of timing.  I found that if you scramble out of the pocket the accuracy drops tons.

I dont know about you guys but my play selection is leaning toward one type of play.  Running plays.....counters in that game work like a charm.  Mostly, i have called 30-35 running plays and 10-15 passing....gotta love the run.

Defense for me seems unfair at times.  The WR seem to always be faster than any corner or safety.  I like to control the FS and make sure i dont give up the big bomb.  The computer will normally do a good job of stuffing the line.

Madden still rules all, NFL 2k2 blows hard.

It\'s all about play calling though, and knowing how the CPU reacts in certain situations. Few pointers:

1. When rushing (RUNNING THE BALL), never do reverses or tosses, they suck. The CPU always comes from the outside.

2. Therefore, always run up the gut. If you have good eyes and fast reflexes, you\'ll see holes that your linemen create for you, use the juke maneuver to blast through these holes.

3. When passing, choose slant plays. On slants, your fastest reciever will always be open, throw a bullet pass here, no lobs.

4. Only throw lob passes if the pass is intended for greater than 20 yards, if less, throw the bullet, it\'s less likely to be picked off and is really accurate.

5. However, if your running a screen play, don\'t throw a bullet, here you will have to lob the pass or you\'ll hit the RB in the back and if it wasn\'t forward progress it will create a fumble.

Those are just 5 of my hundreds of tips, many may disagree with them, but I whoop the CPU all the way up to All Pro. All Madden is something I\'m still working on.
