Half seems extreme in this case, but she was there at his side from when he began making money till now.  If he were a better husband then she wouldn\'t be getting a divorce.  He had no need to come back to the NBA and if that is one of the reasons then so be it.  He chose it.

If he is worth 800 million, he still has 400 million.  No clue how much he is worth, but you get the point.

She was hardly with him when he had no money.  They were married in 89 and his first season with the Bulls was the 84-85 season.  They were married after he had been on a few all star teams, won defensive player of the year awards, MVPs, been the league\'s leading scorer, and made a few million dollars.

He obviously had a need to come back or he wouldn\'t have.  Sure he had already accomplished about as much as a professional athlete could, but he obviously had personal reasons for coming back.  Not knowing anything about their marriage, I don\'t think any of us are in a position to say he wasn\'t a good husband.  Yes, he chose to come back to the NBA, just as she chose to marry a professional athlete.  She should have known the probability that he would rarely spend time with his family during the season.

Support the kids, of course, but she seems a bit greedy to demand half of his assets.  One of the many reasons people might think twice before getting married.

I don\'t think it is sad, just reality, he was cheating on his wife for 10 years.

Think about the wife ;)
How should she feel when her husband was f-ing half the groupies around him? Do you guys think MJ is some priest? LOL :D he had his way with at least 1000 girls. Do you guys know what he does in his spare time? Yup, the nuddy bar. LOL.

All of you please do not cultivate any sympathy for this SOB.  He got where he is by virtue of the NBA\'s marketing, making himself into the darling of fans, refs, and know-nothing sports commentators around the world.  Would he have been as successful in the NBA without all the favorable calls that go along with being heralded as "The Greatest Player to Ever Play The Game (tm)?"  He\'s admitted in numerous interviews that he cheats and gets away with it because of who he is.

He earned the bulk of his income selling his image to Nike shoes, which were manufactured for a few dollars each by virtual slave labor in the third world, and sold to poor inner city kids who could not well afford the $149.00 price tag.  He\'s as guilty as Nike for exploiting those workers.

You can only feel sorry for this a-hole losing half his fortune if you think he deserved that fortune in the first place.

I hate stuff like that, the man works his ass off making a career for himself while the wife sits on her ass all day, and then she thinks she deserves half of his money, I would give her a 20 and tell her to catch a bus

If this is about Michael cheating on her, if in fact he has, then more power to her.  If this is because she can\'t stand Michael having a life of his own and returning to the NBA because he so chooses to then she can go screw herself.  Michael Jordan IS the greatest player ever, no one has done what he has done or with the style he\'s done it with.  Yes, he gets star treatment from officials.  But so does all the other great players in recent history.

Well see thats the thing, he is partially at fault if that is the reason. He spends ALL of his time in DC, and not  at home ever since he bought in on the Wizards, let alone when he started playing again. How many times did he say he was gonna retire to be able to spend more time around kids wife and kids?

When MJ got married and had kids..his own life became shared. Thats how a family works.

When he said he was retiring to spend more time with his kids he was saying that to hide the real reason.  First time was because he wanted to get away from the spotlight and try baseball, something his recently murdered father had wanted him to do.  He knew the public would not completely understand that so he chose not to reveal the true reason till later.  Second time he retired he did so not because he wanted to stop playing, it was because the morons in managment up in the Windy City decided to break the team apart and send them scattering.  And another thing, just because your married does not mean you should\'nt be allowed to have your own life.  I\'m sure his wife could have moved to Washington DC if she was so upset he was away from the house so much.  What did she have before she met Michael?  Where would she be if she had never met him?  Would she have the same quality of life?  The same peace of mind of knowing she and her family would always have the best and never have to worry about money once in her life?  I did\'nt think so.  The NBA season is only a few months out of the year anyhow and with all the money he has I\'m sure arrangements could have been made for contact to be made on a very regular basis.  This is not a "problem" unique to her and not effecting other professional athletes lives.   Now again, if this is not the reason and marital infidility is then I support her action.

such is the reason of compromise. If he hadnt been so wishy washy in  whatever his true feelings may or may not have been, this may not have happend. She has dealt with this for almost 10 years now. You really have no idea how much MJ is not at home.

Im not saying she is inocent in any of this, but dont be so close minded just b/c you like MJ.

Yes, I admire Michael Jordan a great deal, but I\'m not being closed minded.  Thats why I added "if the reason is marital infidility then I support her action" to my statement.  And speaking of compromise, what about her compromising??  She has everything she has because her husbands Michael Jordan.  She KNEW who she was marrying.  She was marrying a professional athlete.  Professional athletes travel.  She does\'nt own Michael, nor should Michael own her.  If she decided to start running her own business or something like that, then Michael should\'nt stand in the way of that either.  But its doubtful she\'s ever cast a thought in those lines because she already has a luxurious lifestyle courtesy of him.  And notice she\'s suing for enough so that she would be able to continue that lifestyle without him around.  She wants the whole 25,000 acre estate, permanant custody of the kids, AND half his assets!!  Brings back memories of Eddie Murphys skit in RAW.  "HALF!!!"  "I\'ll take half his *hit!"
