Thanks for the assistence guys.  The game may turn out to be wonderful, I\'m not disputing that, I think it\'s wrong to use a name like this just to sell it.

Metroid isn\'t a charcter he was a game, they\'ve completely changed the game, but the designers aren\'t secure in their game making abilities so they have to resort to sticking the metroid label on it to help it sell.  It\'s decietful.

Ugh, IT\'S METROID! Just in a different perspective!!!!! IT IS METROID! Setting is Planet Zelbes, Samus\' ship is back and that is SAMUS! AND I\'M SURE THAT THEY WILL LINK THE STORY LINE FROM THAT OF THE SNES VERSION. I\'M JUST REALLY TIRED OF BIASED GAMERS TRYING TO BASH ON NINTENDO.

And for the record, I\'m not a "Nintendo Fan". I own a PS2 and love it to death, hell, I don\'t even own a GC. I\'m a "Gaming Fan" and love any system that plays games. I mean just buying a system is like buying a friggin\' car, with each year, as hardware costs rise, it seems that the allegiances of gamers to specific console manufacturers settle into more firmly solidified, blind partisanship. Forums and magazine letters columns are looking more like the bumper stickers on Ford and Chevy trucks every day. SO WHAT? Aside from replacing more objective looks at the relative strengths and weaknesses of a given system with the sloganeering of console manufacturers\' ad campaigns, such single-mindedness would seem to actually hurt us, the consumers. X-box doesn\'t suck, PS2 doesn\'t suck, GC doesn\'t suck, don\'t be biased against because you don\'t have it.

Trying new thing.............!??!!  Okay.............just get me a 2d metriod I would be happy with that.  As far as I\'m concered this isn\'t nothing but just another "FPS" to me...........if it doesn\'t play nothing like the old metriod then why would you call it that?

1. If your happy with a 2d metroid, then keep playing the one on SNES, cuz\' your not gonna see one. Think of it like this, When Ben Franklin discovered electricity and everyone started using lights, no one went back to oil lamps. Your being Amish rastalant. With time, things change, go with the flow. 2d was kool, but it\'s fun to try new things.

Hmmmmmmm........I got a sulution for this thats why I don\'t have a gamecube..........thats why I got a ps2 and xbox instead and glad I did.  I mean I\'m not saying make every game 2d, but 3d and metriod isn\'t going to work for me......just like castevaina and contra in 3d doesn\'t work to well both 2d version of the games were better.  I just don\'t think nintendo should make it a FPS but its nintendo we\'re talking about they always do what they want..........just look at celda...............oh........no..........

Just wish nintendo never showed that spaceworld 2000 demo THATS what I was expected then I got that trash celda instead.........

Biased gamer???, please I\'m a fan of all systems, all I said was that they changed it from its roots, the one thing that made Metroid great has been changed, I didn\'t say anything about the story or anything else being gone, and I did point out that it could be a good thing to some people, since its a FPS and there aren\'t many FPS coming to GC

Jus a few points real quick..

No, Metroid is a sidescrolling shooter. This game is a FPS with a Metroid theme. It might be fun, it might be game of the year, but it\'s not Metroid to those who grew up on the game.

First, please don\'t yell. Nintendo can go off in any new direction they want, but if they want to try something this radically new with an established and well loved franchise I\'d say it\'s better to make a whole new game... or a side game to Metroid. Sega trys new things all the time, but they don\'t bastardize their licences while doing it. They could also try new things without changing the gameplay. Mario64 for example, totally rearranged the traditional Mario game concept. However, the transition was a solid one from 2D to 3D because they kept the core gameplay the same.

Actually, I see oil lamps and candles at nearly every outlet store in America. I wouldn\'t think anyone would stock them if they weren\'t selling. Being Amish would be if Rastalant would stick to 2D games only.. no 3D at all. There\'s nothing wrong with drooling over the latest advances in 3D technology AND wanting a few select games to stay 2D for the sake of the preserving the gameplay which made them great.

Well.. maybe so.. but one could argue that Castlevania:SOTN was a waste of the PSX\'s power. Still didn\'t stop it from being one of the PSX\'s greatest games, and critically acclaimed by fans, reviewers, and causuals alike.

5. There is no fifth point as of now.

Some people have a serious lack of logic.

Street Fighter is 2d and 3d--which is better?  Munch is 2d and 3d--which is better?  This isn\'t a very strong point (only two games, but I\'m sure there are others), but just because a game is 2d doesn\'t mean it is bad or a waste of power (love that one--isn\'t it Nintendo fanboys that say it\'s all about the games and not about specs or power?).  Just like making a 2d game 3d will not automatically make it great.

I don\'t want to play snes Metroid because it\'s old, my snes doesn\'t work and I\'m sick of it.  I want a new Metroid, not a FPS (of which there are thousands).  Why don\'t they call their next FPS Grand Turismo?  To me, that is as much a rape on the good name of GT as a Metroid FPS.

I doubt that Metroid will offer anything new to FPS that Valve, ID, Epic, Bungie or the thousands of mod makers haven\'t already done.  So what\'s my motivation for playing this game?  It\'ll be another FPS..it\'ll probably be a good one--it better be, but it won\'t be Metroid and it\'s therefore won\'t be reason enough to buy the console for.

I bought the PS2 because it was powerful and had promise (only now delivering, but that\'s another post), I bought the xbox for Halo (mostly) but also for Panzer, and Shenmue.

I have a console that can deliver great FPS, that is not a reason for me to purchase the GC.  I don\'t have a console that does old school twitch games (like 2d contra, metroid, blaster master, bionic commando etc).  If N ever came out with some old school games (you know from back when they were great), I\'d be the proud owner of 3 next gen consoles.

As it is N has some good games, that I can live without so long as my PS2 and xbox are around.

I never played the old Metroid games, but I must say that while pretty, this game doesn\'t look interesting to me.

I\'m sure it will turn out good, but I\'ve lost a lot of faith in the whole FPS genre...  Especially after playing Castlevania on GBA, I\'ve realized that 2D gaming is still a wonderful thing.

Anyway, the thing I really wanted to reply to is the idea that this is not a Metroid game.

The problem I have with that thought is that... it is.

It says Metroid right on the title and that makes it a Metroid game, doesn\'t it?  Oh wait, it\'s a FPS now so that means it\'s not really Metroid?

Then I guess Mario 64 wasn\'t really Mario since it wasn\'t 2D...

And GTA3 wasn\'t Grand Theft Auto since it wasn\'t an overhead game.

And Madden 2K2 isn\'t Madden since it started as a 2D game.

And FFX isn\'t really Final Fantasy since those games used to be good.  ;]

It\'s just a silly argument to have.  

Anyways, I\'ll give Metroid the benefit of the doubt, but I\'ll also admit that I\'m not really anticipating it that much.
