I saw it a few weeks ago, since it opened in LA in December to qualify for the Academy awards.

Black Hawk Down is an oddity.  It doesn\'t fit any category you might try to put it into, because there really has never been anything like it before.  If you\'ve seen some marginal or bad reviews, I think most of them are due to people being unable to categorize it, or having some kind of false expectation.  It\'s not a great film or a classic of any sort.  The best you can say is that it\'s great for what it is... but what is it?  I know this is confusing.

It\'s a challenging film, which I think is good.  It bears a strong resemblence to a documentary in the wealth of detail and realism, but it definitely contains a narrative style that makes it unlike a documentary.  I like films like this that don\'t fit into Hollywood\'s mold.  It makes perfect sense in a way.  The illogic of our modern wars are represented on the screen by an uncommon, nonstandard, almost illogical war picture.

It\'s worth seeing, don\'t miss it.

We were either going to go see this or go to the Improv.  Kind of polar opposites don\'t you think?  I think we are going to Improv.

I can wait for video.  Probably better that way anyway.

Music in Trailers and previews and such quite often have nothing to do with the movie.  This may not be the case here, but they make trailers way before the score is ever even written many times.

Hello?  Point it out when I am wrong.  You will grow tired of pointing out when I am right.:D

No wait, we need the post count in OT.

Feel free to always tell me when I am right.

There\'s actually some good music IN the movie.  During the helicopter launch, they play Stevie Ray Vaughan\'s version of Jimi Hendrix\' "Voodoo Chile."  It was pretty cool.
