The thing about game piracy costing the industry X amount of money is highly speculative IMO (BTW, I\'m talking about games for personal use and not about businesses pirating applications).
You can say that piracy doesn\'t cost a thing coz you don\'t know if
those who pirated would buy the game if it was unpiratable, if you know what I mean.
I know it is costing the industry money but how much is impossible to tell.
I hardly think it\'s piracy that makes game companies charge 50 bucks per game. If there weren\'t any piracy, game companies would jack up the price even more coz they\'d know there was no other alternative for people to get the game than to buy it. They sure as hell wouldn\'t lower the price that\'s for certain.
I still buy CDs even though I probably could pirate them all, hell, I\'ve bought 250 cds the last 4 years.
But CDs have much higher replay value and they\'re cheaper than games.
So I find their price justifiable compared to games which are too damn expensive.
Look at Onimusha, 6 hours to complete, limited replay value. 50 bucks divided by 6 hours equals about 8.33 bucks an hour. That\'s expensive entertainment if you ask me.
