if you havent played this game yet, i encourage you to do so

i havent had this much fun with a platformer in a long time

kudos to naughty dog for its work

the finest part of the game is the real time lighting in the "dark caverns".  you have to keep striking these crystals to have light to progress thru the level.  its a beautiful effect.

no no no!  the best part is on the snowy mountain...after you go through the ice cave, later on you go up the top of a mountain on the elevator thingies and the top of it is ice, and you can see down to the cave below...that was the coolest part

and IMO...its the best platformer ever...i have NEVER liked 3D platformers...3D ruined the genre 2D r0x0rz my b0x0rz!  but this is just...EVERYTHING is just so finely tuned, the graphics are truely AMAZING, so fluid, animations are better than any holiwood CG movie ive seen, at some points it ACTUALLY looks like it could be Toy Story 3..

with the realisation of the entire world, it seperates itself from the other 3D platformers (i hated Mario64) but letting you do as many objectives at a time as you want and you are never bored with having to go back and forward collecting rings/stars/dildos for no apparent reason

my GC fanboy friend has ben complaining about all the lazy work dev\'s have been putting into PS2 games and this...is the game to shut him up...so much effort..

. . .yeah, remember that level with the sand, and the three ghosts that would fly around, and if it got too dark, they would attack you?  You had to go around and keep on pulling on levers to keep the lights on.  That was a fun, hectic level.

I agree..

J&D is the best 3D platformer on PS2.. (Its the best 3D platformer I\'ve played on any format (I don’t own a N64 so no SM64))

The best parts are the first island, (Green gras, butterflies, jungle, waterfalls ect.. Very nice, very alive!) the dark cave (what mm said), and spidercave.. I love that darkeco effect..

I missed the part Bob was talking about. Better boot up the game and have a look :D

yeah i agree, this is not only one of the best platformers, but also a great game, i normally keep away from platformers, as i played so many as a kid, i dont really like them all that much, but jak and daxter is awesome!!!! the best part it has got rid of , that i find annoying in most platformers, is that to make the game harder it doesnt just make gaps bigger, so you have to get the timing just right, or you fall to your death

I liked it, not a huge fan, but I feel it was worth my time. Although the ending SUCKED (common trend in games nowadays?). It could be better, and a whole lot more technically impressive. The mip-mapping kicks in quite near, and things such as bushes and other little details pop-up disturbingly often. At some places whole mountains seem to be non-existant, until you tamper with the camera angle or run closer. Also, I\'m not sure if it always happens, but one night (night in the game) I climbed to the top of the precursor tower in Forbidden Jungle, and waited there for morning to see the world at dawn. To my surprise, the draw distance had dropped to some hundred meters, and I couldn\'t see anything but black when watching further than the jungle portion of the world. Freaky. I jumped down and went back up, and I could see for miles again.

Then there\'s the one little very noticeable detail; the metal rings goin\' round\'n\'round on top of that precursor tower, you don\'t have to be very far away, for them to turn in 2D pancaces.

And also, the teleports quickly reduce their polygon count very noticeably when you run further from then.

And... hey, what\'s this, hey, you can\'t do this! Whatthe, no, nooo! *gets carried away by the nit-picking control patrol*

Well, all that aside, it has the most beautiful scenery I\'ve ever seen in a game. The fact that it remains continuous all the way through really brings more to experience. I\'m playing it through a second time to get another look at the beautifully realized world and all the great vistas...

Yup, got \'em all, no wait, I didn\'t, damn. I\'m missing ONE bloody orb! In Spider Caves, the most irritating level in the whole game! I couldn\'t make myself go back there to get it...

I\'ll get it on the second time through, though, I promise. I owe it to... er... I\'ll just get it.

The game was so much fun and yes, the graphics are nothing short of amazing, have any of you got all the powercells and every Precursor Orb?

J+D is the biggest disappointment of 2001` for me.

I got 67% done and can\'t stomach another minute of the game.

I prefer the Crash games on the PSX considrably more. All J+D is a free roaming Crash and since I played tons of Crash on the PSX the free roaming part falls considerably short of my exectations of a new game from Naughty Dog
