Hmmm.... GTA3 Crime simulator? Isn\'t starting riots ,killing people, and blowing **** up considered a crime to?
Of course it is. So why does every game with cops in it considered crime simulators? There\'s hardly any story in SoE, that\'s not the point of the game, but in GTA3, the real meat and potatoes is following the missions and advancing to more parts of the city. You don\'t have to do any of that in SoE and yet despite that huge glaring difference, because there is violence in the game, it should be like GTA3. I don\'t see how or why that statement makes any sense, but so many fools on this board seem to think crime games are some type of new genre. Little lesson in ignorance for you today: they\'re not and GTA3 is in a league of its own.
It is obvious that Rockstar is banking on the over the top violence and the huge success from GTA3 to sell this game in truckloads. Every review/preview for this game had the words "Made by the makers of GTA3", people are expecting that this game is on that same level of quality so it is enevitable that these games get compaired. End of story.
Yup, Rockstar is banking on it, but simply because when you make one popular game, that\'s what you are known for. Square is known for Final Fantasy, Capcom is known for Resident Evil, Konami is known for MGS2, etc etc. However, I\'m not going to bend over backwards comparing Street Fighter to Resident Evil because that\'s the quality I expect from Capcom, or bend over backwards comparing Chrono Trigger to Final Fantasy simply because they are both made by Squaresoft. Just face it, they may be some type of "crime simulators," but how you play each game and the purpose of each one is so different that comparing one to the other would be an injustice to either title.
Hey RYU why don\'t you STFU and let people have their own opinions on here.
I do, but only when those opinions make sense. I love Metal Gear and yet lots of other people on this board do not, do I go into every thread of theirs and bash them? Not at all. As a matter of fact, when it comes to SoE, I like the game, but I don\'t love it like I do other games, but I will defend it from harsh criticism when the criteria for the critiques are based off of false statements and irregularities. You can hate the game for being too reptetive, you can hate it for being too violent, you can hate it for a number of reasons, but don\'t hate it because it\'s not GTA3. You want GTA3, go play that, don\'t hate SoE for your warped sense of comparison.
No one here is ripping your opinions up (although I could If I wanted to, because I REALLY think this game sucks BAD).
*Awaits "ripping"*
It basically is trying to be GTA3 without the cars (weather it wants to be or not) How can you not see that? It is mission based like GTa3, you have bats, guns, you go through the streets smacking people down, and for $hits sake, YOU EVEN HAVE A POLICE "WANTED" METER!!!!! ARE YOU DELUSIONAL????? You can’t see the similarities?
Other games have guns, other games have cops, other games have cars, others do not and others just let you run amok and destroy stuff. There\'s a genre for this, it\'s called \'beat-em up.\' I can pick up guns, blow stuff up, and beat up on people in Fighting Force, does that mean we should compare that to GTA3 as well? Perhaps Final Fight? What about the Bouncer, or Aliens vs Predator? GIve it a rest. Aside from your "wanted meter," comment, I can\'t think of any other thing that isn\'t done in other games as well as GTA3, however, none of those games are riots like this one is. There\'s where you fail in your comparisons.
Either way, let people have their opinions man, no one is stopping you. I know spending $50 on a game and ADMITTING it sucks is hard to do, but come on, trying to justify it this way is pretty lame.
I actually didn\'t spend any money on this one, but it would be difficult for you to understand that. As for other games I have bashed in the past, I did spend money on them and I did bash them right back to the stone age. What do you care though? So far, your arguement has been that SoE sucks because it\'s not enough like GTA3, and that you had to spend money to buy it as well. When you "Waste" money on a game that turns out to be unlike a previous title, I guess I would get pretty peeved with that too. However, when I read "riots" "fighting" "rocket launchers" and "total chaos," GTA3 is not the first game that comes to mind. Why is it that way for you?
