NYYPZ, til you\'ve ranked "above average" on this message forum, I don\'t think you have the ability to judge anyone yet nor have the right in calling other people dumbasses:rolleyes: . Shame...

PS2 got third?  What the heck?  It shouldn\'t have even been included in this because it is from 2000, not 2001.

EDIT: I don\'t think that comment was anti-Xbox enough, so here\'s another one.  The chipset could be powerful enough to control the whole world for all I care.  Without the games, it is just a powerful, technologically advanced paperweight.

Well DUH! And the PS2 won when it\'s processor was the new thing on the market. Big deal! Technology does age, and the newer products that are more powerful are always going to get the better marks. I thought this was common sence, but then again.. look who I\'m talking to.

Dumbass.

While you\'re getting that "Wait till E3" tattoo on the back of your head, why not get one right above your butthole with a big arrow pointing down saying "Exclusive property of Bill Gates".

You are right about one thing, the PS2 didn\'t have a large library of AAA games either when it launched. Nor did the Gamecube. Only the Dreamcast followed up a spectacular launch lineup with a stead of stream of great games. Of course, you wouldn\'t know that seein as how your DC library is mostly crap rehashes and subpar titles. What a waste of good gaming equiptment.

First of all we know whats expected during 2002 we are just yet to see how they play out. Second, this is past xbox launch and we are soon entering spring, (the exact same time ps2 started to come out with some AAA titles, like gt3). Plus, we are talking about the present not the past, and ps2 is here and has been here so we can only compare ps2 now to xbox now. The reason for this is because ps2 has all these games + some coming while xbox has ..... well, what it has now. Capiche?;)

Xbox: Best Gaming Chipset of 2001
By Cesar
02.22.2002 @ 12:08 PM

NVIDIA® Corporation announced today that its proprietary processors designed for Microsoft® Xbox™ has been named the "Best Gaming Chip Set of 2001" by Cahners In-Stat/MDR, publishers of the Microprocessor Report. The Xbox processors feature the dual-processing architecture of NVIDIA’s Xbox Graphics Processing Unit (XGPU) and Xbox Media Communications Processor (MCPX) to power the video game system’s standout graphics, audio and networking capabilities. The award, chosen by the analyst team of the Microprocessor Report, is one of the first presented in the fourth annual Analyst’s Choice Awards honoring the best in microprocessor technology unveiled in 2001.

"NVIDIA engineers built the Xbox processors in a short 14 months, from the design win to the first working systems," stated Dan Vivoli, vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. "The execution of this ambitious and aggressive program is a testament to the incredible talent and execution of NVIDIA’s engineering teams. We are extremely pleased to have received this recognition and we are excited to be on the leading edge of revolutionary design."

"Microsoft’s Xbox set a new standard for video game console features, quality and performance," said Peter N. Glaskowsky, a senior analyst with In-Stat/MDR. "The unified system architecture of the Xbox gave the system capabilities unmatched by the competition, such as full-time antialiased graphics, vertex and pixel shading support, real-time Dolby(TM) Digital 5.1 encode and support for high-definition output."

Microsoft’s Xbox features a powerful combination of NVIDIA’s XGPU graphics processor and the MCPX media processor. The first processor, the XGPU, a fully programmable 3D processor, contains more than 60 million transistors. This awesome amount of computing horsepower is dedicated to one goal—create stunning, never-before-seen imagery. The second processor, the MCPX, is based on two powerful digital signal processors (DSPs) with 4 billion operations per second dedicated to 3D audio and network processing. The MCPX performs the processing for broadband networking functions, high-speed peripherals, and is the most sophisticated audio processor ever built.

Each year the Microprocessor Report analysts review and evaluate more than 100 microprocessors, digital-signal processors, and application-specific digital machines. For a complete listing of the year’s nominees, click here.

The GameCube got the second place while Sony\'s PlayStation 2 the third place. If you already don\'t own an Xbox, go buy one!

Sonyfan = Braindead moron.

Of course it won when it first came out you idiot. It had no real competition.

Dumbass!!!!!!!!!!

I never said wait till E3 or 2003. All I am saying is letfs talk about the games when the XBOX has been around as long as the PS2 has. It does take time to make games you know. The PS2 was out for more then 2 and a half months before its library began to grow. You people are a joke; it seems that you just can\'t stand another console getting more praise then the PS2.

why?  because it won an award against the GameCube and the PS2\'s two year old technology?

and XBox is competing against PS2 which was made almost  2 years ago.. i would think if XBox lost to PS2.. that would be a humiliation..

why should i wait for XBox to even get games when PS2 has a MUCH larger selection of superior games right now?

ive said this before.. remember that while XBox is getting more games, PS2 is getting more games at a faster rate..

your a complete idiot if you dont understand the point mm was making..

XBox fans have ALWAYS been forced to say "just wait til BLAH BLAH" or just wait til it gets games.  Your a complete idiot, why should we wait?  you could be playing a PS2 that already has games..

The xbox has great games right now, there is no reason to wait.  Since November, the xbox has recieved as many good games as the PS2 has.

Then what are those explosions of sound i\'m hearing coming from japan.. Is it the emergency self-destruct xbox mechanism.. or is it the sound of nothing.. nothing meaning no sales

Halo, Gothem, DOA3, Amped, Wreckless, JSRF, Madden, Fever, NHL 2002, Genma Onimusha, Inside Drive, Silent Hill 2, F1 2001, Max Payne, Tony Hawk\'s 2x (with 3 in a  week or so), Munch.

These are all quality titles, and I\'m sure I forgot a few.  If a game is released for both systems it is better.  After 3 months this is a good selection of games, enough to keep anyone happy.  You may not like all these games, I don\'t, but that doesn\'t mean they aren\'t good solid titles.

And Chrono, how the hell do you know how well xbox is selling?  We won\'t know for sure for about a week and besides, it\'s success or failure in Japan says nothing about the quality of the system or its games.
