Got any mods on your car?
« on: March 06, 2002, 06:26:21 AM »
Got a car with any mods on it?

I have a ’91 Camaro Z28 with a 327 Chevy small block in it. I got the motor out of a badly damaged 1965 Corvette. The original horse power spec. on the Vette motor was around 360hp.

In the course of building the car up I was able to outfit the engine with an Edelbrock Rpm Intake, Topped off with a Holley 650 Double pumper carb re-jetted to serve 700. An HEI distributor by MSD graces the engine with mods bringing the spark up to 58,000 volts of current. I placed a standard water pump on the engine and a set of Billet serpentine pullys.

The internal components consist of hydraulic lifters, seamless rods and 1.6 roller rockers. I was able to get my hands on a set of aluminum pushrods and a Lunati Steel crank. The flywheel is a lightweight steel plate made for quicker response times. I touched off the top end of the motor with a set of Dart 202, 63cc heads.

With all that, the car dyno’d at over 400 hp and just a touch under 400 foot pounds of tork.

Does anybody else have a project car? Let me know the specs, I’d love to hear about it.

Yes, my DURANGO has a Remote Starter:)
Being in frozen Minnesota I need one to warm the puppy up.

--You can start the truck from the comfort of your house. It will run for 15 minutes before shutting off.

--You can stop for gas, or whatever and turn off the ignition and take your keys and the truck will stay running (for 10 minutes).

--You can have the truck(car) start automatically at the same time every day:)

If ANYONE touches ANY of the controls (brake, gas, shifter, etc) the engine will cut off immediately.

My wife got it for my B-day a few years back:)

I\'m waiting to pay off my Impreza RS. Once it\'s paid off, I\'ll start looking for an Impreza STi engine and tranny. Once this turbo charged flat four (2 liter engine) is in place, I should get at least 280hp on AWD! That should should get me a rather decent acceleration of 0-60 in 4.3 seconds....but I don\'t like drag racing much. I like twisty road courses.

Of course, a turbo engine requires good brakes to stop this monster. So I\'ll probably get 6pot Brembo brakes uo front and 4pot for the rears. Then there\'s the suspension replacement. I was thinking of using DMS shocks...for circuit racing....but with the adjustment for refined daily use. You cand adjust the setting to soft inbound and hard outbound! Just like in GT3! Too bad both Brembo brakes and DMS suspension cost well over $2000 each!

Mods are difficult for me... Here you need a permission for everything, and the cops don`t like mods too.

Anyways, my Impreza has been lowered and broadened. I think of getting an Unichip and a new back box = 250 - 260 hp.
