Did I miss something, there\'s bastardizing going on?

j/k

On a more serious note, this might be worth watching, since it was an event that changed our lives.

It\'s my understanding that the French company that shot this film was at first uninteresting in selling it or broadcasting it on the US networks.  They agreed only after making a deal for heaps of cash (naturally) and securing an agreement that they would be able to produce the show entirely themselves.  The review I read indicated that the final show is very low-key, more like a PBS documentary than a typical exploitative network news show.  For example, the French producers supposedly had video of people running out of the building on fire.  They chose not to include any of that.

There will be 2 similar events, one for CBS, possible commercials, and one for HBO.  I\'m not sure what the HBO one will have, but I already heard about the CBS rumors.  It\'s my understanding that allow footage was shot of certain gory scenes, those scenes will not make it to the public.  There\'s a strong debate about whether or not this should be shown thanks mostly in part to about half the loved ones of the people who died do not want to relive it.  However, the other half is saying exactly what vid said, people need to be reminded and those who died need to be remembered.  It\'s the sole reason why we are in Afghanistan at all losing troops day by day.

They hyped it wrong.  They made it seem more like 2 hours of footage from ground zero when really it was more of a story.  I really think they turned some people off with their promotion that should have watched it.

It turned out well concidering the two camera guys weren\'t prepared for what they fell in to.

The bodies falling were so incredibly chilling.  Every time you heard a crash you knew someone jumped because they wanted to die on their terms.  Very sad.

I think it was done well, and it showed how horrid the day was, even if the french wanted loads of money thats how people are, they did it tastefully.

Thanks for the heads up Vid.  I\'m so glad I got a chance to record it, who knows- it might end up on DVD.

I loved the way the French put it together.  No sweetening of the audio like FOX does on ALL of their "world\'s worst" shows.  The crashes and screams were genuine, and the edits were sequential, didn\'t switch from one time period to another.  It was so real and I thought these three shots were gripping:

- plane crashing into tower 1
- lights out on the escelator
- debris storm in front of the van when tower 1 collapses

I\'m glad CBS got the French company to air their documentary on national TV, free to anyone that has a set.  I just wish I had a copy of that Letterman special with Dan Rather.  Anyone have it?

It was really good.  I\'m glad I watched it.

And I have to agree that the "falling bodies" aspect was disturbing.  I can hardly imagine the mentality of the victims who went through all that.

I watched it from beginning to end, it was very interesting and horrifying at times.  Hearing the bodies land and seeing the planes hit with all the people watching was terrible.  Like the one guy said a million times, you can\'t believe it happend.  You think you\'ll just shut your eyes and when you open them back up everything will be back to normal.

There will be a way for you to see this again I am sure.

I taped it.  Figured in 10 years or so Logan may need to know what life was like the year he was born.

Yeah, I found out that a co-worker of my wife\'s taped it too, so hopefully we can borrow (and copy) the tape.
