As for racism in general, I just whish people would stop differing themselves from others, if you see someone they always say I\'m a ****** American.  They distinguish themselves from everyone else.  The way I see it the only real reason to distinguish yourself from another should be your culture, not your race.  So people that say ther are African American, I just wanna know when was the last time you were in Africa?   Oh never, so f*ck you, you\'re just an American.  You\'re an Italian American, when did you immigrate?  Oh never, you were born here?  F*ck you, you\'re American.  Pollish American, born in the US, drop the Pollish part, you\'re an American.  I believe the same should go for every nation.

Or maybe take it a step further, I\'m not an African American, or an Italian American, I\'m a damn human, leave it at that.
Also, on this note. People that say they are XXX-American are just showing respect and pride in where they come from. Italians are proud of their heritage. Polish people are proud of their heritage. There is nothing wrong with them showing their pride.

As for the reverse racism topic goes, I would have to believe that all forms of racism are of an ill nature. However, man is and will always be afraid of those things that he/she can’t understand. If we as a people were to be educated in the cultures of other races we might be able to over come the racist drives in all of us.

Some of us have over come those drives from experiencing another culture and the differences between our own culture and that of another. Fear is one of the main drives to racism; Ignorance is the drive to fear. I think that if most people were to learn about those races that they fear most, they would then overcome the racism in themselves.

This also applies to religious beliefs and other topics that define us as humans.

As a white dude (with all my "upper handedness) I wake up in the morning every day and say, "What can I do today to keep the black man down...Hmmm... Ah screw it, I\'m going to Kmart."

Ugh.

Our wonderful elected representatives in the senate passed AMNESTY for illegals. Weeeeeeeee

This is wrong on so many levels I won\'t even bother.

You\'re missing the definition of reverse racism.  This is when a group that has be repressed by racism, grows to power and inflicts racist behavior towards their previous afflictors.  It\'s not saying that reverse racism means that it is backwards, simply that the dominant racial views have turned around.

Amnesty for illegal immigrants, affirmitive action, God those piss me off.  We\'re still held to old, old words, phrases, ad ideas, too, while the "victims" toss them around, and even point them at us!  The most obvious example is "nigger."  I hear black people say it like ten times a day.  One time a little black fucker called ME a "nigger."  But what would happen if I said the word?  Goddamnit, I\'m not racist, I\'m really not, but these sons of bitches complain about racism, "Persecution this, respect that, by the way, we\'re suing the government," and then they turm around and call you a cracker.
I\'ll think of a sig later.

I\'m sorry but you\'re completely wrong here. The British, Portuguese, Spanish and Americans along with other european nations were the ones who managed the actual trading and transportation involved in the African slave trade. However, the actual capture of slaves from their native regions was carried out almost exclusively by african tribes. Originally the trade consisted of mostly prisioners of war, but as demand rose african chiefs began to organize raids on neighboring tribes with the sole purpose of capturing slaves.

Europeans did indeed establish forts in Africa, but these were utilized to house slaves while the trade ships made their routes.

Its a hard one to call. I think that until blacks and whites are seen as humans and theres no seperation between them then that is when racism as a whole would end - pretty obvious really.

It would mean though that there shouldn\'t be TV shows for blacks, words which your not allowed to say infront of blacks and other dividing things like black only schools. I mean even referering to whites and blacks by there skin colour should be allowed. Since saying this is racised is actually making an issue of their skin colour which shouldn\'t be there. I mean they are black. Im white it doesn\'t matter its just the colour of your skin. It means nothing.

Then once everyone is completly treated the same then prehaps racism would stop - although the chance of this happening is fairly slim due to peoples\' ignorance.

Just as a side note I actually think that it would be harder to stop racist views in England than it would in America. I grew up in north england and in both my schools and college (thats from the beginning of school till the age of 18) there was one black person. Im now at University and I don\'t think there is a single black person in my class of about 100. I think i\'ve seen two black people in 4 months of being here. It seems they all live in south england.

I definitely think there is reverse racism.  Anytime you are doing something based on skin color, it is most likely racism, on some level.  However, I think a certain amount of reverse racism is and was necessary.  It\'s almost like self defense.  If a group of people is being unfairly treated, of course they should band together and fight it.  Is that racism?  To some extent, I think so.  But it is also necessary.

This is the most intelligent post in this thread so far IMO. One area I do disagree with you on is this Rich, "all black" schools dont really exist the way it sounds when *all black* is spoken. Whites and anyone else are more than welcome to  enroll with out being turned down for their color. Most non blacks just wont go there b/c they feel intimidated.

I\'m just curious about what you mean by "TV shows for blacks". Also, there is no such thing as a "black-only" school. I go to a historically black college and there are many white students.

they have to have all black schools because they can\'t get into all the white schools. Lucky bastards

And why shouldn\'t it. You dogged a race of ppl for 400 years. And even today it\'s still going on . It\'s pretty sad we can\'t all live as one. But if there weren\'t things like AA to guarantee that qualified african americans would not be passed over jobs, and schools because of there race.
