yea well actually i dont think you were trying to provoke mms response or show him what he is like until mm brought up the broken record deal

anyway what i want to know is ok list the failed add-ons and then think and list why they failed - then you might statrt to see a pattern that had nothing to do with the add- on but the marketing and timing along with price - those determine the success of even consoles

Where did you get this info from? I would be pretty suprised if this were true, especially since just about everyone I know also owns a second Dualshock (or a second third party controller). Come to think of it, 10% out of over 80 million PSX/PSones sold is still enough to not call it a failure.

mm,you sound more like a PS2 zealot rather than a XBox zealot:)

...you\'re ingenuous,if you expect to see if an add-on is a failure or half-failure or a success at launch or some months later...you,at least,have to wait till the end of the lifespan of a console to assert if add-ons are failure or half-failure or success!  don\'t you agree?

i just find it humurous yer so dead set against the PS2 HD succeeding when you you damn well it will.  i dont even classify it as an add-on.  its more of an enhancement.  you had to pay 30$+  to even play DVD\'s in yer xbox, no?

the PS2 HD will sell, and sell very well

xbox can NEVER beat PS2\'s numbers
there\'s almost a 25 million deficet, and PS\'s are STILL outselling xbox\'s exponentially.  xbox is a fine little, err big console, and may perhaps take second place down the road.  sony is already at the finish line smoking a dutchie and drinking a beer

I too doubt that xbox will ever catch PS2--this year or four years from now.

But in 2-3 years how many of the 50 million PS2 owners will still be actively buying software and playing their system?  Many of those early adopters will have purchased an xbox or GC, and assuming 3rd party practices stay the same, with the choice of the same game on PS2 or a competing console, which console will they buy the game for?

Everything is going to shake down and each console will have their absolute exclusives, 6 months exclusives and 3rd party whoreware.  

I know if I had a choice between a PS2 game and an xbox version, I\'d chose the xbox version everytime.  It\'s just better (with very few exceptions).  Right now the PS2 has mindshare and many of the new games first, but the latter isn\'t going to last forever, we all know that.  What would happen then?

There are already rumblings that GTA4 will be released similtaneously on all platforms (or even that MS will buy the rights for it).  So someone looking for a new console, that are priced the same, is going to buy which system?  If the only difference is performance, why not go for the best looking/playing game?

I\'ll buy both the PS2 HD and DVD option for the XBox...but it\'s another question:)...my friends have both PS2 and XBox and they all won\'t buy any add-ons...there\'re a lot of people who are not interested in add-ons...the majority is not interested in add-ons...

I didn\'t mean XBox will catch PS2 in the US next year in terms of installed user base...but in selling numbers week after week next year...

I do care about games...and I think competition could benefit to all us gamers...why should we be scared by this?
If both GC and XBox will reach a solid user base,more and more devs will give these consoles the attention they deserve,emphasizing their advantages and peculiarity(like PS2) to create other great games for us...why should it be bad ?
