GC is looking pretty good and well set for the end of this year.

RE=/me drools

Square+Nintendo= /me drools even more

Star fox=/me passes out

PSO=/me goes crazy

Im looking foward to the end of this year. If Square make some major titles for GC then I can see it passing X-Box in sales.
1.FF7
  2. Grandia
  3. MGS
Is it me? Or does PSone own all the other systems?

Blade, I think you need to look at some release lists. Sega currently has more games available for the PS2 than the Xbox with several more in the works. Off the top of my head there\'s, Crazy Taxi (Acclaim port), Crazy Taxi 2 (Acclaim port), Ecco the Dolphin, Seaman (announced), Rez, Headhunter, Aero Wings 2 (announced), and not to mention the NFL2k series is continuing on PS2 as well. How many Sega games has the Xbox gotten so far? 2, not including the NFL2k series (Which, afaik, are going to all platforms). How many have been announced?

Read Rikku\'s post, and then add the Genesis/Saturn/DC remakes.

Sega is not porting or developing any of their classic games for the Xbox.. as far as I\'ve heard, they\'ve contracted a seperate company to do that. Sega has also said that PS2 and PSOne will be getting ports and remakes of Sega classics, though specific details have not been given at this point.

Who\'s going to publish these remakes? Sega, right? End of story.

Microsoft did NOT help Sega build the Dreamcast. Sega licenced out MicrosoftCE operating system for use in the Dreamcast. It\'s compatable, but does not run on - nor depends on - any Microsoft code to run games. Out of 16 games I have for the DC, only one of them runs on Microsoft CE.. and that\'s SegaSwirl, a jakey little puzzle game hidden in the webbrowser disk. I should also note, that it skips and stutters quite a bit despite never being anywhere near pushing the hardware even a fraction of what it\'s capable of. That might just be my copy.. but it\'s the ONLY game I have problems with.

You\'re right, but that\'s still more than Sony or Nintendo has done for Sega in recent years. ;)

Also, you\'re considering a problem with your copy of Sega Swirl to be a problem with Windows CE on Dreamcast. For all you know, you might have the only 16 games that don\'t run on Windows CE. But anyway..

I did not know that Sega\'s arcade development departments prefered the Xbox. That\'s the first I\'ve heard of it, and I would appreceate a link. Question... what does arcade development have to do with the Xbox? Had they said they prefered Triforce or a Namco board over System256, then I could see the relevance.

It\'s been stated in interviews.. but it might just be an opinion of one director. Flaky reference on my part.

Excellent posts Blade. The only GC title I own right now is Luigi\'s Mansion and I think I am in the minority in saying that I have found this game to be very enjoyable.

Personally, the games I am looking forward to for GC are Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Racing. I loved Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing on N64.

What\'s "AFAIK"?
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Read Rikku\'s post, and then add the Genesis/Saturn/DC remakes. - Blade

I did, and he deserves thanks for answering a question of mine. Remember, my debate was never that the PS2 is getting MORE Sega titles.. but that Sega is distributing their efforts evenly. The only company who seems to be getting the short end of the stick is Nintendo. Also remember that Sega announced that they would port some of their Saturn classics to the PSOne, and release sequels to some of their classic games on the PS2. Like I said though, they haven\'t been announced. Just out of curiosity, do you know which Sega classic games are being developed for the Xbox?

Oh, and by the way.. add Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia & Virtua Fighter 4 (thanks Sublimesjg) to the list of games Sega is/has released on the PS2. The coverage, is just about equal I\'d say.

I\'m not exactly sure. I\'ll have to look more into the subject and get back to you.

And the point of this is... ? Sony and Nintnedo were in direct competition with Sega while the Dreamcast was in production. Microsoft was NOT. It would make no sence for Sony and Nintnedo to help Sega create a gaming machine which will be pitted against their own machines.

Quote
Also, you\'re considering a problem with your copy of Sega Swirl to be a problem with Windows CE on Dreamcast. For all you know, you might have the only 16 games that don\'t run on Windows CE. But anyway.. - Blade

The point of bringing up my copy of Sega Swirl being the only game that has problems running, was a show of Irony. Not to say that all copies are defective like that.. I don\'t know.. but mine is. The fact that it runs on a Microsoft (renound for buggy products) OS kernel and is the least graphically strenious game.. yet still manages to spit & sputter is humorous to me.

There are a few Dreamcast games which run on Windows CE, such as RailRoad Tycoon II. The VAST majority of Dreamcast games do NOT run on Windows CE. I know this from experience, and anyone else here who owns a Dreamcast will tell you the same. Go to any videogame trader shop, read the myrid of product reviews for DC games... there aren\'t too damned many games for the DC which use it.

And what is this "For all you know" stuff? Do YOU own and still purchase games for the Dreamcast? If not, then I would think I would be in a much better position to make claims on what is and is not the more commonly used development programs than you are.

Lots of things have been said in interviews, and in the end 90% of the statements made don\'t add up to a hill of sh*t. There are developers out there right now who will sing the praises of Xbox hardware.. but continue to work exclusively on the PS2.

But hey, at least you can admit it. I give you credit for that.

Well, I expected this much from posting Nintendo news in the debate room.. I\'m getting debates..

The point is: Nintendo confirmed Square. Nintendo confirmed internet. It doesn\'t matter if the PR people are spinning webs of lies or not.. some of this stuff was assumed by the gamers but needed to be confirmed. Now that they\'ve basically confirmed it, it\'s time to celebrate.

That is, unless you\'re a PS2/Xbox fanboy are enjoy watching Nintendo suffer.. of course. ;)

SonyFan: Grandia II = UbiSoft, not Sega. But I getcha.. thanks for the replies.

Whoops. Got carried away there. Thanks for the correction.

Oh, and there\'s at LEAST four more games for the PS2, which are online, being developed by Sega which have been announced - but not formally named them yet AFAIK. Don\'t think I\'m trying to rub it in or anything, it\'s not like that. I\'m just spreading more information for the other people in this thread who might be worried about Sega keeping their promise of equal support for all systems.

Anyone have a link or a list of the games Sega is creating for the NGC?

SonyFan: Sega likes the Xbox arcade hardware more.
