Maybe as early 2006
I think what we\'re looking at in the near future is a transition phase where average consumers will be buying a powerful computer for a gaming console first, then see software released for it to take on all the standard functions of a normal PC. No reason why not, there\'ll be plenty of horsepower to spare by then in order to run any home utility you could name. A hard drive, if not standard equipment, will be ready to go as an option the day of release. This is bound to eventually dry up what\'s left of an ever shrinking PC gaming market, which has been a solid fixture and driving force behind the home computing industry for the last few decades.
MS sees all this coming and knows full well Windows EXPP or whatever is not going to be the OS of choice this new line of software will be running on, no matter how much they cry and beg. Hence the release of exbox to forestall the inevitable end of their stranglehold on the PC market via a closed OS and all the endless costly upgrades that have gone with it. Can\'t say as I blame them but I\'m not going to wish them well or help em on their way either.
Eh, time will tell. Sometimes just cain\'t hep sharin\' my premonitions, is all. The signs is evywhere! :nut:
