Madden online ps2, but not xbox
« on: May 15, 2002, 04:10:06 PM »
EA said that Madden will be an online game.. on the ps2,
but in the press release the xbox was not mentioned..

Strange?
well, it is assuming I did not miss any news, but I figured I would have heard a fanboy ranting how its online the xbox but the ps2 had not been annouced cause the BB/56k was not included

Perhaps this "MS controlls everything in the online gaming part" is not making developers like EA happy

They were pissed..

read this

"We are still in discussions, but at this point it does not appear that EA Games or that \'Madden Football\' will support the online features of the Xbox this year," EA spokesman Jeff Brown told Reuters. "

Poor poor xbox fanboys, bought your console with the super BB but MS is so god darn stupid that you can\'t play online.. now this is REALLY hillarious

What about GC?  Nintendo just annouced real plans now but it would be advantageous to EA to add support.  They have the servers already and they are making the game anyway, plus they\'d get a price break from Nintendo.

IGN Just confirmed that the xbox version of madden will not be online.

To all the xbox fanboys on this forum who said that this was the best plan for developers, you were very very wrong.

and proof that its 100% MS\'s fault

In the press release
"We feel confident about the business model presented by SCEA and their choice of an open technology infrastructure for providers and consumers."

I will play Fever 2003 online. Some other xbox owners will play NFL2k3 online. I like Fever better than Madden anyways.
Xbox most wanted:
Hunter: the Reckoning        Morrowind
Brute force           Project Ego
Xavier Fox the lost worlds
Unreal Championship         Fever 2003

EA is one of the major players in the dev community, and if THEY dont wanna come to the m$ table, what about the smaller devs?

EA becomes more blunt

"EA is apparently weary of entering into an agreement with Microsoft because its online games service forces publishers to offer their online games on servers controlled by Microsoft. Not only does this give Microsoft access to information about customers, but can cut into third-party profits.

"We understand and like Sony\'s business model, and we don\'t yet understand Microsoft\'s," John Riccitiello, president of Electronic Arts, stated in the article. "The die has been cast in this generation, and we know Sony has won."

However, Microsoft is optimistic that the two will be able to come to a conclusion soon. "We\'re in discussions to bring their games to the Xbox service," David Hufford, Xbox product manager, also stated in the article. "It took us a while to convince them to write their games for our platform and it will take some time for both companies to get together and discuss this." "

Glad someone stood up to MS, I bet you will never see FFXI on the xbox now..
