Ace, try PC sites like:

http://www.anandtech.com (the forums are great too)
http://www.sharkyextreme.com
http://www.tomshardware.com (although a bit messy and not as good as it used to be)

And a ton of others. I\'m sure nO-One can add some to that list. ;)

Here\'s a comparison of different gfx cards in Quake 3:

I know this is lil\' late for a reply, but meh.

I have exact same thing..I mean exact, and I\'m also going what to do vidoe editing, but to it best I\'m goin\' to have to get close to 1 gig or 2 on memory.  A 2.2 prossesory and a 160g harddrive...sounds like of like over kill, but thats what you truly would want if you got big time into editing and 3d creations.

Also, I\'m thinkin\' of buying a GeForce4 Ti 200 4600 titanium...just for ****s and giggles...only costs about 400 bucks....HA

PS. I didn\'t bother reading everyones posts so if ya said that already, I\'m sorry.

Oh yeah, the hard drives..

You really need to run the drives in an array to get the speed up.  You will have tons of dropped frames editing anything taxing on a single drive system.  I tried for about a week and went out and bought 3 firewire external drives.  Not a dropped frame since.  Much better.

As Ryu said get a upper level GF3 instead of the GF4 MX, the MX doesn\'t have the vertex shaders which are the magic in todays cards, and the memory bandwidth is also much lower.

Also the soundblaster is outdated, hell it\'s been outdated for a long time, Creative finally got off their fat asses and released the Audigy, while a nice card their driver support still and most likely will always be bad.

rdram came down in price quite a bit.  It\'s still more expensive than other ram, but I would be hard pressed to say any of the Rams are expensive any more.  It\'s amazing hoe cheap Ram is now.

Thanks guys for all the input.

Videoholic, I\'ve been looking into which Fire Wire drives I want to buy for the past week or so. Any recommendations? I want to be able to bring the drive home to work on projects and then transport my work back to my office.

nO-One, I only got that board because it was so cheap. I have a really nice Delta 2044 board I use for recording my guitar. It doubles as an awesome sound card.

Ryu, It\'s already done. I wish I asked you guys before I ordered the system. I might upgrade in the future if it doesn\'t fit my needs.

Thanks for the links Samwise.

I have 3 lacie drives, but they are kind of loud.  I\'m not sure if they are all loud or if these are just louder than normal.  Actually now that USBII is out it\'s actually faster than firewire.  I have 2 drives for video and one drive for audio.  Works very very well.  Did not work at all with one drive though.  couldn\'t scrub on the time line.  Just still frames and crap.  It sucked.  Now with multiple drives there is enough speed to scrub video on the time line.  Definite must.
