Why do people want Nintendo,Xbob, Ps2...

etc... to fail?

Isn\'t competition good?  Think of it as quality control.  If your the only thing out there, then why try harder?  You can become complacent, and not fear anything, because what else are the people going to turn to, if your the only thing?

I hope Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony, all do very, very well.  That can only lead to better, and better games.

Its called product loyalty. I don\'t agree with it, but many people love a certain system because thats what their used too.

Like Nintendo, lotsa people grew up with Nintendo, so they are loyal to the company. Its not about whether one is better then the other, its just loyalty.

Cliche\', that is what your statement is. Has MS tried to buy into this business? No. They done the same thing Sony did close to eight years ago, they entered the market new. NO buying anything, \'cept for Bungie and it is common business to buy a developer and make them first party. There may be controvsery on how they conduct business in the PC market, but so far in the gaming industry they have played fair  - therefor you have no reason to whine and complain about them buying into "any business they want".

Speaking in that sense, Sony is just as guilty...but neither one of them is doing anything wrong.  It\'s business plain and simple...

I actually think that Sony was worse in this way years ago.  I don\'t know why you\'re complaining so much about X-box doing it now.

if there was one system developers game quality would go down.  Monopolies are bad.

Let me get this straight....When a company advirtise\'s its product, that is considered buying the business out? Damn, thanks for telling me that. Also when a company buys out another developer - that is buying out the business? Well ****, I guess Sony and every other hardware manufactor is guilty of the same thing. Come on Clowd, use common sense for once. Every company has bought out a couple developers to use as first party or second party resources and using advertisements to sell something is far from buying any industry out - infact its called  ...."marketing"...Well, damn.

Then again, this is from the guy who posted once on how the industry should just have Sony in it and we\'d all be so much better off.

So, let me get this straight - MS should deny itself the money that they have earned in another industry , to be succesful in the industry? So, by those means Sony shouldn\'t of used its multi-billion dollars to leverage itself as a succesful company in the gaming industry also? Wait, before you go complaining that MS is using all is money on ad\'s and what not - you need to step back and remember when the PSX was just coming out, Sony killed everyone with U R NotE ads, not to mention Toshiden ads with Sophia . Or how about Sony signing developers and what not?

As for your comment about money being the reason the DC died, you are half right , still uninformed (as usual). Sega dug themselves into a massive debt with the Sega CD, 32X and then the Saturn - one that they couldn\'t get out of even with the DC, which was succesful until Sony came around with the hype machine known as the PS2. It wasn\'t just a matter of money .

Then you have a problem dealing with the reality of business and that is to be the best. How do you become the best? By using all your resources and then. If you\'re a company like MS, entering into a market and you have plenty of resources, it would be foolish not to use them. Also, while you say you don\'t like companies who use their money to get into the industry  you keep ignoring the fact that Sony did the exact same thing MS is doing. My point? Quit complaining that MS is using unfair business tactics in this industry, when infact they are everything fair and have not done anything so far that Sony (your favorite company) hasn\'t done in the past.

To sum it all up...if things worked the way you think they should, we\'d be talking about the console wars between Dreamcast and Gamecube.  No X-Box, no PS2.  Both were larger companies that entered the videogaming market with far more money than Nintendo or Sega, and tried to use it to their advantage.  There is no difference, except for maybe the fact that Sony was even worse when they did it, IMO.

And yes, when you just ignore facts like that, even when people keep pointing them out to you, it destroys your credibility.
