i\'m usually not into PC games but this game has really caught my attention, and i\'m thinking about getting it.
but their are a few questions i\'d like to ask first:

1. will this game run on "win Xp pro"?(seeing that i dont have any other OS at the moment)

2. i\'ve heard alot about cheating in this game, but is it really that big of a problem?

3. finally, is it actually worth it, or could u guys recommend something else that falls in the same category as this game?

:)

OH MY GOD!! SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND YEARS ON AND CS IS STiLL GETTING N00bs!!! Quite amazing really. I\'m a worn out and jaded CSplayer myself, so excitement about new horizons won\'t resinate in this post. Just remember to wear your thick skin as some "L337 H4x0rs" can be quite annoying.

You might also try out a mod called Day of Defeat. Its a WW2 game thats vastly superior to CS. Its also relatively new, so I might just be the "spice factor" and me WANTING CS TO DIE ALREADY!!!@%!&^%$@$#.

Try Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Best FPS online I have played. Require much more team play then CS. Or wait for Battlefield 1942

...or he could just get CS, which is cheap and fun.

1) I don\'t know.

2) I don\'t think cheating is much of a problem... not to me anyway. But if you want to be almost \'cheat safe\' then join a respectable clan and play on a clan server.

3) I think it\'s worth it. You can probably find Half-Life cheap somewhere (I did - like $20 or whatever). That was HL: Game of the Year Edition I think, which includes CS on a seperate CD. And then you can always install other mods like Day of Defeat later, practically getting a whole new game for \'free\'. I say GET IT.

Its all the rave on iHug. But these days the closest I get to the action is the live server status page, cuz I\'m a nerd and playing games isn\'t nearly as much fun as reading ahead... oh and homework, I totally love it! (crying inside)

OMG PUNKBUSTER?! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. They stopped supporting CS when Valve wouldn\'t integrate it into CS. Little whining bastards cried all the way home..... to RtCW.
Day of Dick? LOL! Well actually since... 2.0 I think it was its been a good game. Anything before that was pure ass. And RtCW?! Its a good game but far from the best FPS on the internet.

1. I have XP Pro and it runs fine.
2. Cheating used to be a HUGE problem, hundreds of people stopped playing the game because of it. Several groups released third-party anti cheat programs that would detect and ban cheaters, like Punkbuster (ahahahhaah even when they did support CS it was a piece of crap, only detected something like 5% of cheaters), HLGuard (much better), and Cheating-Death (also much better).
These programs did alot to stop cheating, but as soon as they would update, the cheat makers would come out with a new version. Finally, Valve themselves (the company who owns CS) made an anti cheat program, built right into the game. New cheats were detected with 24 hours, cheat makers got pissed, many left and started hacking Quake 3, and the true non-cheating-bitch CS players rejoiced.
Long story short: its not a problem anymore
3. Is it worth it?! Its been around for over 3 years and runs on the 6-7 year old Half-Life engine, and yet its still bringing in players and is/has been the #1 player online game in the WORLD for 3 years. Its definetly worth it. Its unique, its fun, the battles are always a little bit different. Its realistic, but not so much that it makes it not fun *cough*DoD*cough*.
And it only costs $30!

When you get it go here http://csradio.counter-strike.net
CS-Radio is the official Counter-Strike radio broadcast, hosted by Counter-Strike.net (official CS site). I know you\'re probably saying "CS Radio WTF?!" but trust me, its great. I love this show and its community so much, this is where I spend most of my time nowdays. I\'m an admin on their server, whose IP is csradio.recongamer.com:27015 . So come by.

Counter Strike is an horrible outdated crap of a game that is only enjoying it\'s success because it\'s a free add on of an old yet very popular game.

I hate that damned game!!!
I recently discovered that my ass is the key to the universe.....now I must fight to protect my ass from those who might abuse it!!!

i dont mean to be a pain but, would it matter if i buy the original half life and then installed the CS mod( i.e would half life screw up win xp seeing that its a pretty old game)?
i ask this coz i seriously doubt i would be able to get the CS retail Cd.
:)

It will work fine. In fact it\'d be better if you did that because then you\'d have 2 games for the price of one :D:D:D:D:D

Day of Dick? Lol, hardly. After I tried Day of Defeat I stopped playing CS... and I\'m hardly a n00b. Then again, I\'m no 1337 hax0r like Solid Snake 88.
