Maybe so, but they did fudge quite a few facts to make it more dramatic onscreen. All film makers do it, and that\'s the difference between a "based on true events film" and a "Documentary". My point is, that while they were fudging facts, they should have added something in to tell the importance of why they were there.. how they grew from the experience.. each man\'s persepective on what it meant to them. Give the viewers something more than jus buckets of spilled American blood. It was just a slasher flick based around a real conflict from where I see it.
And even ignoring that.. I still don\'t see how it could make someone cry.
EDIT: Speaking of documentaries, there is one film that made me get a bit teary eyed. It was the 9/11 film on ABC.. filmed live as the attacks happened by those two french filmmakers. That was truely disturbing.
