Some Comparison Shots that iv\'e found:

PC / X-box:

PS2:

Well, this is what i believe them to be. bear in mind i have now played both the PC Demo (new valvoline one)
and the PS2 demo.

This gives a better perspective on what the demo on PS2 looks like.

There is a big difference on those shots. I have checked the official codemasters site and the screenshots there look great. The only problem is that is doesn\'t state which version they are from. This only leads me to believe that those on the official site are PC shots.

What a bummer!

Uhh.. exactly the same?  Except with Jaggies?

Don\'t expect the XBox version to be jaggy free either :)

And why would the PC/Xbox version be on PLAYSTATION.COM ????

because maybe they got their screens from somewhere too (obviously assuming they were PS2 in-game shots, when infact they are not?).

The point is, all those nice screens we\'ve been seeing in the past and believing were PS2 shots are probably more likely Xbox/PC shots of the game. Either that or the demo StAnZo has played is a very old build and does not reflect the actual game.

Well, I\'m just going by the videos I saw, and they arent up with the quality of the original one (obviously, the resolution is insane... INSAAAANE!!!) they still look great.

No, No, No..

The texturing in the Pc/Xbox shots and others around this forum are a lot higher quality than those shots
i posted above. those screens i posted came from the same website bob.
The difference is too big. the highres screenshots were the first to have been released to the public.
These lower res shots were released after those higher quaity ones.
I also believe that the X-Box will have FSAA and have a higher resolution
(it houses a GF4 and FSAA is easy on that system).

So why did it go from looking so good to not so good...
mmm.. obviously the shots must be from 2 different platforms.
This is why i\'m trying to let people know that it just doesnt look as good as those hi-res shots on the PS2 in it\'s
current demo-form. Also if you get a chance, check out the official PS2 mag (UK)
The review has mixed screenshots from the PS2 version and Pc/X-Box version. The difference is there and it\'s noticeable
Also, another thing to bear in mind is that the X-Box/PC versions are not due for some time. They can only get better.

I\'m 90% sure i\'m correct but i wish i wasn\'t

actually, I am overly confident that the lower quality screens were the first to come out. The better screens followed just after... anyway, what does it say on the demo? I have more and more doubts that it\'s a new demo. Must be the build from E3...

not to say this isn\'t true, but where exactly does it state that it is a 80% build? On the CD, before the Demo starts or in the magazine?

Well, Codemasters certainly have alot to answer for. If there is such a big difference in the final game between those screens that we have been lead to believe are from the PS2 and what the actual game looks like, then I won\'t buy it on PS2. I think this whole thing has been a marketing scam, SONY included, as I am sure they were all well awear that the game doesn\'t look that good (that is if it doesn\'t).

Reason being, is that at playstation.com.au, they have had about 4 playtests of the game, stating how wonderful everything is graphically on the PS2, and how impressed they were by Codemasters. I think we have all been taken for a ride.

Also, the game is more expensive in UK and AUS then any other game. I know that in AUS, its being launched for $109.99 when normal launch games are only $99.99.

Oh well, we\'ll see.

And Bob, wouldn\'t that be funny if those vids we have been seeing t EB turned out to be from the PC or XBOX versions with a PS2 logo at the bottom...

Yep, well this thread has certainly thrown up some questions.

I remeber these shots to have been the first released:

Check The Text above ^^

Here are a couple more for comparison to the high res released shots.

Source: http://igm.lib.net/shot/trd/trd.shtml

These are screenshots from the old PC Playable Demo:

I Apologise if i\'ve posted too many screens in this thread. there will be no more by myself.
Just compare these to the ones above. Somethings not quite right.

This site: http://www.game.uk.com/lowdown.asp?tab=ps2&guide_id=477
This has some screenshots labeled as PC.

i\'ll leave it upto you to decide now and investigate further.

Stanzo, Do you have screens of the new PC demo?

It would be interesting to see the difference.

All Screenshots for the new demo can be found here: http://www.bhmotorsports.com/RDRIVE/screenshots
It\'s the version that i have been playing on PC (just the 09.08.2002 screenshots)
But just cross check them with others there. it still doesn\'t look as good as those other released screens at
http://www.codemasters.com/tocaracedriver/english/screenshots-ingame1.php

Also, the demo no longer needs to be burned to CD. there is a no cd patch here: http://www.bhmotorsports.com/download/240

Download the demo here: http://www.bhmotorsports.com/file/211
It\'s 170 megs but if you have broadband, i suppose it\'s worth it. right check out http://www.bhmotorsports.com
for all the extra info you need.

The demo will come down as an .iso file but you can extract all the files by simply loading the .iso file into Winrar3.
I\'m not sure why, but the new Winrar supports ISO extraction.
Extract it to say c:\\Toca Demo then install it from there. once it\'s installed, extract the 2 exe\'s from
TOCA_Race_Driver_Demo_no_CD.zip. into the installed directory of the demo and overwrite the old versions.

Edit: Well, i said i wasn\'t gonna post any more screens but... THESE ARE PS2 SHOTS!

There the cleanest ones i could find. there are a lot of mixed shots here: http://racedriverhq.m4driving.sm/template.php?page=screen&map=toca
Notice the Speed Blur effect. it is still absent on the PC demo that i have played,
but it is intact in the demo version on PS2. that\'s a big giveaway as compared to a lot of the other shots shown.
Yep, it still looks good, but the main reason for all these pictures that have been posted,
is purley to show people that codemasters are releasing screenshots that are simply Dev shots as ingame ones.
The PC demo screenshots dont live upto those screenshots that they released and i have heard that the PC
version will be released shortly after the PS2 version. Sony have simply got a contract with Codemasters
for exclusivity for 6 months so that the X-Box owners have to wait.
So, if those released shots aren\'t PS2/PC or Dev shots, then hell.. The X-Box version looks bloomin\' good.

You Decide...

Ok, so Stanzo, back on topic, what do you think of NFS? Are the graphics better then TOCA? Hows gameplay compare to older NFS games?
