Crazy Taxi 3 looks to be a vice among all of you. This game defies all logic. Looks like shit, sounds like shit, yet, according to nearly EVERY review on the planet, is a very fun game.
But, I don\'t know, since it was released on the 24th, it was given about a week to sell. Selling 15k in a week isn\'t great, but it isn\'t as terrible as you people make it out to say. I would say this is pretty good for a game with a few magazine ads and some backs of magazines. The August number for this game will be much higher. Needless to say, don\'t expect high numbers out of this game since it is a tired franchise. Crazy Taxi on PS2 is also half the price of CT3 and was out the whole month.
HOLD ON A MINUTE!! Tennis 2K2 sold 7,000 less than Crazy Taxi 3!! I guess Sega should just pull from supporting PS2. :rolleyes btw, the Tennis game was only for sale for a day or two, so expect better sales in August for that one, too.
Perhaps if Sega took the time to actually make a game that the general gaming public can enjoy and not Jet Set Cartoon Radio (which sold 80k) or GUN-impossibly too hard for whiny bitches-VALKYRIE (50k), their games will sell better. Sega GT 2002 may perform well, you never know. A good commercial could sell many copies on graphics alone. Judging by the stores I look throguh at Best Buy, NFL2K3 is performing very decently beside Madden on XBox, despite being blown away on PS2. NBA2K3 will probably do really well on XBox, perhaps outselling Live (and it damn well should), and 2K2 outsold the GC version 2:1.
Some very casual-gamer stuff has sold terribly shitty on GC by Sega: Home Run King, Soccer Slam, NBA2K2, sports games in general sell much worse on GC, so you can pretty much count the 2K3 titles to sell worse than the XBox incarnations.
For you jackasses out there, off the top of my head, here are as many PS2 games as I can name (from the start of the year on):
Tennis2k2, NBA2K2, Virtua Fighter 4, Virtua Fighter 4, NCAA 2k3, NFL2K3, NBA2K3, NCAA b-ball 2K3, Shinobi, Gungrave, Rez, NHL2K3, Sakura Taisen 4, Virtua Cop 1 and 2, Sega Bass Fishing Duel, Soccer Slam, F355 Challenge, Space Channel 5 pt. 2, and VF4: Evolution. Those are off the top of my head, I am sure there are more.
GC off the top of my head: Monkey Ball 2, all Sega Sports 2K3 , NBA 2K2, PSO eps. I and II, Sonic Adventure 2, Beach Spikers, Home Run King, Soccer Slam, Skies of Arcadia Legend, and Sonic Mega Collection.
XBox off the top of my head: GUNVALKYRIE, NBA2K2, JSRF, all sega sports 2k3, NFL2k2, World Series Baseball, Crazy Taxi 3, Sega GT 2002, Shenmue II, Panzer Dragoon Orta, PSO v. 2, House of the Dead 3, Soccer Slam, and Toe Jam and Earl III.
What\'s the catch? Well, looking at the XBox list nearly all are either sports games on evry console, or games that were announced before or around release of the system. There have been very few Sega games that have been announced on XBox in a long time. Trigun in Japan is the last one I can think of, and that was like 4 or 5 months ago. You can see though, that Sega has gotten a better business head on it\'s shoulders. They are putting games on the consoles that suit that game. If they aren\'t, they are being paid to compensate for lost sales, something a smart business would do. THey have only been out of hardware for a year and a half, give them time, you can already see them supporting the system with the largest userbase more and more already.
One last thing: It is sad to see so many pricks in here who care only about the sales of a certain game. Especially from those with little to know interest of that said game. You people make me sick, you play sales charts and not games, apparently. So what if Sega decides to put Shenmue III, Sega Rally 3, and Phantasy Star 5 on XBox, if it makes the games any better (and we all know the hardware provides for it) then I am game. Fu
ck you if you want Sega to limit themselves to make a quick buck, especially with MS filling more than a few of their money problems with cash. I say, make for the best system and the unfortunate people with only one system can cry about it. I get to enjoy every Sega game made because I own all the systems.

quick and to the point: everyone bit
ching in here about Sega\'s business needs to **** off. They are back in the black and 3 of their games have already gone platinum worldwide. They will be around for years to come. Hopefully in 10 years they can come to their senses, with buttloads of cash and hot propertites from successful franchises made on other systems, make a new, all powerful system that becomes a great success so I don\'t have to buy 3 consoles every generation (5 if you count broken Sony machines
