What the hell is Fight Club about?

Basically what ooseven seems to be some of the points they were trying to get across. There were quite a few smaller, more subliminal messages in the movie as well, but what he said seem to be the main points.

Was Fight Club really that hard to understand? It\'s been a while since I saw it... the twist was pretty cool, but mindblowingly hard to grasp?

He isn\'t confused by Fight Club\'s twist, it\'s Fight Club hidden message.  Which is so painfully obvious that I am about to grow a beard to commemorate santa clause.

The hidden message in Fight Club (directed by David..... Lynch!) is: Don\'t be ghey or [sp]you\'ll end up with a cap in da head[/sp].

Ok, that was bad. I still need to see Mulholland Drive though (even though RaCeR did a good job trying to SPOIL it for the people who haven\'t seen it yet),

Fight Club is rather self explanatory.








[spoiler] It is about a man with a split personality and the basis of the topic is a couple things. Generation X grown and realizing that all we have been raised for is to buy useless stuff that we don\'t really need and how we , in general lack a soul. We\'re slaves to the franchises that we buy into and how sometimes pain is the only one to truly know and feel ouselves. [/spoiler]

At least that is what I got from the movie.
I think you need to stay with straight forward , no point movies like Glitter, RAcer.

Supposedly, our generation is a generation of sissys.  We have no great war, nothing to really call our own, but just a ton of useless crap constantly filling our homes that we constantly work and strive to achieve.  When we let this happen, we lose touch with what we really are; animals who need to survive.  Survival is not achieved through an IKEA book or having the best television set.  Survival is achieved when you look danger in the face time and time again and come away clean.  That\'s why he formed a terrorist group.  Basically, it was to show that when you have lost all material possessions, life goes on and you can still survive.  At least, that\'s what Tyler was thinking.  The Narrator just didn\'t know he was doing it the entire time until it was too late.

You also can\'t forget the underlying message that we are a generation raised by women and the last thing we need in this world, is another woman.

I suppose that\'s why Marla was there... right?
