A 58 year win streak... and the USA finally falls to Argentina.

Argentina pulled off a victory that until recently was considered nearly impossible, defeating the United States 87-80 in the World Championships.

"I\'m embarrassed to be on the team that took the first loss. We can still go out and win the gold medal, but we\'re still \'that\' team,\'\' Paul Pierce said.

"I\'m embarrassed,\'\' Baron Davis said.

The United States never led, was tied only once, trailed by as many as 20 and couldn\'t mount an adequate comeback down the stretch.

Reggie (Miller) brought us together,\'\' Pierce said. "He said the world is against us. The world, the stands, the refs are all against us. The only thing we can do is go out and play hard the rest of the games and get the gold medal"

Keep in mind....

The defeat did not knock the Americans out of the tournament, but gave them a lower seed for the medal round. They will play Yugoslavia in the quarterfinals Thursday and could get another shot at Argentina over the weekend.

That is pretty embarressing.  But you can\'t win them all.

I\'m not at all a sports fan, and honestly couldn\'t care less.  But I\'m pretty sure that if you pit our best team against Argentina, we\'d kill them.  As it stands, that wasn\'t our best team just a collection of good players forced to act like a team for awhile.

Still, being the son of an Argentine, I can\'t help but smile at who it was that will finally go down in the books for accomplishing this feat!  Bien jugado, Argentina.

Haha, no not really.  And one loss wouldn\'t make them not the best.

The USA lost because they sucked.  Simple as that.  They deserved to lose.  Argentina played the game the way it\'s supposed to be played - by playing good defense, sacrificing, good foul shooting, basically playing AS A TEAM.

The USA team was made up of a bunch of hot dogging second raters who aren\'t used to the concept of playing as a team, even when they are playing with their own real teams.  The top level NBA players are no longer interested in representing their country in these competitions because they\'re a bunch of self centered overpaid showboaters who only care about the money and the honeys.  

The team that wins the NBA championship should be FORCED to represent the USA in the world championship, or the Olympics, whichever applies.  It should be a condition of their contracts.  After all, how can they call themselves "the world champions" if they didn\'t really win the world championship?  Instead we get jagoffs like Kobe Bryant blowing off the Olympics because he has to get married to some chick he knocked up.

I\'m sorry buddy but I\'d without hesitation choose my bride. The guy isn\'t a focking robot that plays basketball, believe it or not Cored but some NBA Players have personal lives.

I\'m sure he\'ll be in the next olympics. The guy is only 23.
