The epic game from Intrepid and of course Peter Molyneux(creator Project Ego) is rushing on to the xbox. At the dawn of time the very survival of the human race hangs in the balance. Cowering in caves and running from predators, your species faces the ultimate threat - extinction at the hands of a vicious, rival race of ape-men. Humanity has one hope for survival and that lies on your shoulders. BC doesn’t care about the fact that it’s stuck giant reptiles alongside homosapiens, because BC isn’t about telling the story of early man, it’s about blood, blood and gore, blood and gore and hitting things with a big stick; it’s about survival. Survival is the key to yours and humanity survival for a reliable future or even at all. Peter Molyneux\'s Lionhead Studios is providing professional guidance and assistance on this game, which explains why Molyneux himself was the giving the demonstration. One thing I can say about B.C. is that the visual elements and game design are things that could only be done on the Xbox. You\'ve heard this before about your favorite Microsoft console, but wait\'ll you hear about what\'s going on in B.C. The leader is you, the earlies species of human, can you lead your tribe to a better life or send them to a certain death. BC is an original 3rd person action/adventure game that hurtles you millions of years into prehistory, to the beginnings of mankind. Here you must lead the struggle for dominance among the first men. You will personally guide your evolving, learning and changing clan on an epic journey of survival. BC allows control of any tribe member, each with different proficiencies; in addition you can ‘tag’ several other tribe members. Tagged tribe members can then be given orders and will intelligently aid you. For instance, while attacking a particularly vicious raptor, tagged members will attempt to surround the beast in order to gain a tactical advantage in the age old art of clubbing beasts to death. The game is all about survival which is very interesting due to the fact we never seen this done before in a game like this manner. As your tribe learns to cooperate, use tools and communicate, things don’t get any easier. The earth is facing a massive meteorite collision, which only the luckiest and most skilful can possibly survive. Your task is to unite humankind, teach them how to survive and guide them to the ultimate goal - the continuation of the species. The entire evolution of humankind rests on your shoulders. There’s no pressure at all just a few million lives at stake. The better you learn your tribes skills and weakness better your percentage ration of survival going up. Hunting is the key aspect of surviving. won’t be just the tribe that hunts however, with a fully modelled food chain, the creatures will make sure the land of BC is a violent one. A Tyrannosaurus Rex will happily rip a tribe member in two leaving fleshy entrails hanging in its teeth and a pool of blood in its wake. The food chain will help add a a huge amount of realism to the game atmosphere. Each creature is an individual with its own need and desires and the landscape is more than just eye-candy, trees can be climbed and bushes foraged for example. Each of your tribe members is a unique individual, growing and changing in personality as they face dangers, experience triumphs and failures, and learn new skills. It all takes place in a massive world where every item can be picked up, researched, or used as a weapon; where every creature is not just an enemy but also an individual with its own character, prejudices, and goals. Every berry, fruit or flower can be food to one creature and poison to another. This game is almost deeper then Project Ego, a massive RPG thats beign called the best RPG ever, by the same creator Peter Molyneux. The places you will visit will vary from hot rabid deserts, too cool icy sub-zero type lands. While only grassy plains have been seen so far the full game promises to cover a wide variety of landscapes, from jungles to beaches each with their own unique species. Every dark landmass is filles with flesh eating species, new discoverys essential to you and your tribes survivial, well in that case all of humanity. Already the game is looking good graphically with fully modelled mountains rolling off into the distance, giant brontosauruses lapping up water from rivers causing ripples to spread outwards, stars moving across the night sky, even ants will be modelled. This game will feature so many details from giant thing like Dinosaurs, all the way down to the little tiny ants. This game comes with tons of promise. One is of course a epic adventure of humanity while blending action and strategy. Another promise is to feature lots of blood and gore, even when one of your tribes men, or women are getting toar apart by 50 foot T-Rex. This can possibly be the biggest hit of early 2003 for the Xbox. The question is can you teach your fellow tribe men to survive in such harsh conditions, its up to your leadership skills. The war between cavemen and dinosaurs were never proven to be true or false, but you can rewrite history early 2003 only for the Xbox. B.C. has instantly and convincingly joined Project Ego as one of the most interesting and ambitious titles scheduled for the Xbox. XE will have more on this sure to be hit of 2003.
Any comments, as usual, are very welcome. Ben Cousins Lead Designer Intrepid Computer Entertainment.
