I thought the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie was alright. I seriously do, I just watched it on Starz.

Tsk tsk.... I guess you guys don\'t quite understand the story, after ... 14 years  It\'s all about the energy form that is
life. In Akira the Akira project portrays mankind trying to manipulate that energy (which is in all living things). However
things get skewed and mankind f*cks up again thus a mere
boy named Tetsuo learns he can\'t handle the energy/power
which does not belong to mankind. The movie teaches that this
energy source is something which is NOT to be toyed/experimented with. At the end of the movie Tetsuo loses control, the "manipulated" children and a returning Akira ( who was also a kid in that scientific project) stop the out of control Tetsuo. In that fight most of Neo Tokyo is destroyed/cleansed and Tetsuo transcends into the cosmos as the original energy life form he is. So according to Otomo, all living creatures, including humans are forms of energy, albeit materialised.... which are given just the right amount of power which should not be skewed.
Yes, this is a deep story, but this one is directed brilliantly, unlike that sh1t from MGS2 SOL. Kojima could learn a LOT from Otomo.
Anyway.... I think Hollywood will only f*ck it up, so I think they shouldn\'t even attempt to live action that anime.

It\'s gonna bomb like that FF movie. Unless Josh Hartnett(sp?) is in it, it\'s not going to be great. (I hate teen movies)

Sowwy Unicron ... uhh... if I remember correctly we ( all forum members ) discussed MGS2 in the Main Forum a few weeks ago.
There I said MGS2 does indeed have some very good themes, but
imo it isn\'t directed very well. I didn\'t dis the content of the MGS2
story and I\'m not trying to do that now either. But hey, I\'m glad
there\'s still ppl like you and me around here who get Akira\'s theme ;)

1: Akira made sense. Watch it about a hundred times. It does, damnit!

2: It is not a golf club. It is a Japanese anime, and is often called held responsible for the anime explosion in America.

3: I can see someone like Josh Harnet voice acting / or playing Kaneda and screaming Tetsuo\'s name out....Ah, yes, this movie will be great..

OK, How many people understood this?
I rest my case.

It\'s all about energy beams and big explosions and invisible life forces and "things man shouldn\'t control..."  In short, it looks cool, but it doen\'t make any friggin sense.

Seriously...could someone tell me what the hell Akira is?
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Akira made sense to me. It’s just a stupid F@#KED up movie. Hell, I’m sure if I smoked enough dope. Sniffed some cocaine I could make a movie like that too.

Now Ninja Scroll, Now that\'s a movie. :)
