Too many stickys?
« on: October 19, 2002, 02:38:16 PM »
I feel when there is too many it takes away from posting somewhat.  Some people see it as the place not getting a new post then they may leave.  I am just saying this from experinces I have had my self.  Not that people shouldn\'t know what stickys are or anything.  I just find too many annoying.  What do some of you think>?

I\'m inclined to agree, I think there are too many. But unfortunately, it\'s not up to us. At the end of the day it depends on whether admin thinks there are too many or not.

I suggested making a Pro Sports forum, where we could take all the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, College... etc. and talk there.

What about having a seperate "Stickys" forum for such things?

A sports forum would be good.  We could get different topics going for some of these things.  Maybe make a real NFL topic and a fantasy football topic seperately or something.  I\'d like that.

I think a sports forum is long overdue. I thought about that when I first came here, but I didn\'t think anything more of it. I forgot about it until it was mentioned here.

I have unknowingly trained myself to not notice the stickies, so they don\'t really bother me.  It usually takes me a week or so before I even see there\'s a new sticky, and by that time the thread is too large for me to even care about reading it. :)  I find it annoying when a really good topic is a sticky, because I usually miss out.

Sports forum - pointless.

Takes away from the off-topic, takes away from the forum itself, basically. That\'s just from personal experience, though.

See Yuz.
What do Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Matt Clement, and Carlos Zambrano have in common?

They\'re the pieces to the next great pitching rotation of our time, what else?

GO CUBS!

sports is less than 1% of the genre "Off-Topic"

Worth it? Yes!
Why? Because I\'m stick of overloading stickies in off topic, 3 of which are sports.  You must see my point.

I do, but hell, if it IS only less than 1% of the Genre on off-topic, why must we make an entire forum for it? Bound to fail, bound to detract from the popularity of each forum.

Again, just from experience am I saying this. People are lazier than you think...even if it\'s just to click a few extra buttons :P

The World Series and Bali Memorial ones should be down soon enough.

I\'d rather have one sticky thread, instead of 30 seperate NFL threads. Anyways, the sticky\'s tend to disappear after a while.

I think it is fine now as well.  Baseball will be gone in a week or so and Bali could be unstuck now for that matter.

and Jerchel, do you have to compare absolutely everything to your board?
