Not here to comment, jus to briefly explain my views.
Since the spark of first human intelligence we\'ve had a very special gift that no other animal in all our ecosystem posses.. an imagination. The ability to create a fantasy and then make it real.. either through books, beliefs, or hard work. We can change the world.. mold it.. into what we can imagine. While many people say that "in god\'s image" means we\'re physically like him or belive it means we have free will.. I tend to think that the ability to create our own worlds with our imaginations is the "image of god" that many people talk about. Yet, it\'s also religeon\'s biggest downfall.
Lets assume that there really is a god. He did create us and gave us laws to live by in order to please him. We, through our imaginations, combined with other factors like greed, short mindedness, confusion, free spirits, and such.. multiplyed over the course of tens of thousands of years.. it becomes very likely that those original laws and visions of god have become squewed and warped so far from their original form that no religeon today may even be remotely CLOSE to nailing it. The factioning of all the religeons.. from the vast differences between Buddism to Judeism.. and even within the Catholic religeon as a singularity seems to be proof positive of this. Expecially consider that views of god are molded by the cultures of the people who worship.. and culture is in it\'s entirety a result of human imagination. Compair the Roman Catholic god of 1700 to the modern day view of him to see exactly what I\'m talking about.
Personally, I believe there is a "God".. and a life after death and all that. I\'m not so arrogant as to even begin to speculate who or what he truely is or what he wants from us. All I have to go on is my Roman Catholic family roots. So I use Catholasism as a basis for how I practice and show my faith. I am unorthadox, however, since I reject many of their teaching and replace them with what I feel is right (like not persecuting gay people just because they like to get shyt dycked every once in a while) and by embracing sciences teachings which are by and large testable and provable.
God is so far beyond what we are and what we know.. it amazes me that some people actually think they can put a face to him.. a human face no less. That.. I think.. is about the pinnacle of arrogance. In a way.. god didn\'t mold us in his image.. we molded him in ours to make ourselves feel more important as we drift through this endless abyss on barely a spec of rock orbiting a spark. And personally, if I\'m only a man and already disqusted with the human race.. I can\'t imagine what god thinks of us.. if he even does. Doesn\'t quite give you the same warm fuzzy feeling when you think that we\'re just the illegitamate children of some oblivious entity jerking off as he travels through the galaxy.
There\'s more to my ramble.. but I\'ve got to get taking off. I\'ll spew the rest of it later if anyone cares to hear.
