GT4 to have damage-able car models and realtime weather?

Maybe, I hope it does have damage-able cars and weather.

Gran Turismo 4 Details Appear
According to numerous sources, Gran Turismo 4 is well in development and perhaps due for a late 2003 release. It\'s not a surprise, really, since the numbers 4 follows 3, and Gran Turismo 3: A-spec was a roaring success (and for that matter, all of the GT games have been roaring successes).

What we have heard is that the game is about 50% complete, and that Polyphony Digital Lead Producer Kazunori Yamauchi has stated it will feature damage-able car models and realtime weather conditions. If true, the car damage models would be a first for the series and definitely affect gameplay, depending on how much damage the cars actually take (i.e. simple exterior damage versus structural or engine damage). The realtime weather conditions are an extension of the excellent lighting techniques mastered in GT3, and will hopefully include rain, hail, fog, snow and more, though admittedly that\'s pure speculation on our part.

It will.Usually great developers are watching gamers\' complaints and likes when they want to make a sequel so they would make it better.
And PD arent stupid to not include damage-able cars when is one of the biggest complaints for the previous. The series might loose fans.

I hope they drop the rally mode.  It does nothing but take up space if you ask me.  And they better keep test course,  I can only imagine the type of racing it will produce with 6+ human drivers drive  equal cars around its high banks :D

I\'m wanting engine failures they can result from bad shifting,  and to be greedy static cockpits with working guages :D

Can\'t wait for the online championship :D

GT uses real licenced cars so how do ya expect this to work out? They havent been able to allow damage on any of the titles in the past so why would every company that they feature in GT4 all of asuden decide to let this happen. Expect a dramatic decrease in the amount of cars available.

The Getaway has damage-able cars from Toyota,Honda,Nissan,Ford and many more from the biggest car makers, so I can\'t see no reason why GT4 can\'t have them.

All of the above is true.

If they spent more time on the Rally mode and made it more then what I would call a side game,  I would say keep it.  But at it\'s present state it\'s nothing more then a few single races.

Hmm, the problem in GT3 was that there were just a few manufacturers that didn\'t allow damage - even if 9 out of 10 say yes - what do you want to do? You can\'t just enable damage on 9 of them while the other one just hasn\'t got any!

I think in an interview way back with Yamauchi, he stated that he might do the damage-mode seperate where you can only use the cars which were agreed to have damage included.

I think a damage model is the only logical step forward in the GT series. After all it is what everyone wants and the GT series needs to advance that extra step further. Most other driving games have damage models and I don\'t see any manufacturers complaining there.

Also completely new tracks would be better so it won\'t be dubbed GT3.5! After all you can\'t keep using the same tracks year after year.

This whole manufacturers don\'t want damage is a load of crock crap. Anyone played a NFS game? Not only do they have crappy sedans, they also have Ferrari\'s and the like, and all of these cars have damage.

Most manufacturers don\'t mind damage as long as its done properly and realistically. A game like GT is a really good publicity machine.

For all we know, the agreement with having your car featured in GT4 is if you allow damage. I guarentee that 99%, if not 100% of all manufacturers approached would agree on using damage. Its just an old excuse for dev\'s who can\'t be bothered putting in the man hours to create a decent damage model.

Racer - how many manufacturers does NFS feature? How many does GT have?

Also, how do you want to "guarantee" something you can only speculate on yourself? ;)

EDIT: mr. niceguy-edit.

I would like to have car damage but I do understand that it costs lot of money. I trust in Poliphony.

Perhaps they should add some videos and information about the cars\' safety in accidents.Like the tests with the dolls? It would be something like an advertisement or commercial for them giving information about their cars\' safety and give the green light to PD.....Bah!!Perhaps I am talking BS.

Bleh, no thanks. I want a racing game, not a drivers safety course.
