A possibility maybe?
« on: November 10, 2002, 07:32:25 AM »
I was thinking about this just last night upon going to bed. With the immense popularity and growth EA has seen in the past couple of years I wonder if they might ever enter the console race at somepoint in the future.  EA is becoming a huge cash cow if anything and it would be really interesting to see a souley games producing company bring out a console. Im not saying we will ever see this but I sure wouldnt be surprised. I dont know though, what do the rest of you think?

I doubt it.. bringing out a console requires A LOT of money. I don\'t see EA having enough to secure themselves a console that would have a chance surviving...

Just look at Microsoft and how much it\'s costing them....

Well I was thinking more of a long term stretch. If they continue at this rate then yea, maybe they could have enough money. Now, it would be a big risk to take but it sure would be interesting. Just imagine EA pulling the plug on Sony, M$, and Nintendo not allowing any more of thier games to go to either. Thats something you wouldnt expect to see.

You do know that EA was founded by TRip Hawkins, the same man who brought us the 3DO, right?

They are mostly doing sequels of old games now.We are getting tired of them.Just as we are getting tired of many not so bettered sequels from other developers.

Each FF is a unique game that shares only RPG characteristics

Yep. FF is only a sequel by name (except maybe FFX - 2).

With EA it\'s a new footie, soccer, basketball, baseball, screwball game EVERY year.

Does anyone need a new football game EVERY year with MINOR variation in gameplay and maybe no improvement in the graphics at all(even if it does, so what?? It\'s still the(almost) same game!) ???

EA with a console?? They die faster than SEGA.

Way more than a decade...

Sega was around LONG before Nintendo and Atari...

They just weren\'t always known as Sega...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Are you joking?  FFX was nothing like 9 or any of the FF\'s before it.  You could say thd same about ALL RPG\'s.  That would be insanity.  And I can assure you.  FFX - 2 will be nothing like what we have seen from Square before.  Also, think about Kingdom hearts.  No simularities whatsoever to previous FF games.  I know its not a FF game, but it has a tone of characters from it.  The way I see it, everytime Square comes out with something new, it has many improvements from previous releases

It terms of gameplay I didnt see anthing remarkably different in FFX compared to previous.

Lets leave FFX-2 out of this as I am talking about the traditional FFs although I am not very excited about this one either. It is not a totally fresh idea.It shares everything with FFX except of the way it plays(worlds, characters, continuation of FFX\'s story, enemies etc).Perhaps its the idea of having Yuna doing action stuff I dont like.

Also lets leave Kingdom Hearts out as it is not a FF game.
