The Getaway or Vice City?

Am I the only person on the planet that thinks GTA:VC isn\'t that good?

I played GTA 3 and really enjoyed it, but VC just feels like more of the same old thing.

I\'ve played the first few missions (drive from point "A" to point "B").  I\'ve even tried some of later missions from a mates saved game (destroy a building by planting bombs with a remote controlled helicopter).

After playing from the start I was bored within an hour and am in no hurry to play it again.

Please tell me I\'m not the only one that thinks this game is boring.

quite possibly

you see the thing is you have to Give GTA :VC more than just a quick go.

Yes some of the early missions are point A to B , But that’s just the first 3 missions.

After the initial missions are done with , the rest of the city opens up and the wackyness starts.

I\'ll maybe give the game a bit more time.  It might be a grower.

OMG whats happening? i mean sure the getaway is cool but if i was lookin for a simulator that was lame, slow and realistic i\'d go down and rob cars! the slowdowns in the getaway? so true! gets to 20, 22 fps in the NTSC version. The fires are lame and 2d (IMO the only system that can do fire is Xbox).

while in VC what couldbe more fun than raising ur health with a busful of whores? disgusting really but hilarious. VC has thousands of lines of hilarious comments, not to mention it runs at 60, 70 fps. It has more cars, its a lot less complicated, and did u SEE the slaughter scenes? where they pour with blood like a sodding fountain!

so true....i enjoyed GTA3 a whole lot more than vice city, sure its fun to drive helicopterz and the apache an all (if not DEAD hard) but what happened to the loads of gangs and crap? and what happened to the stupid cops that would ram into the rhino and explode every 2 seconds? VC requires a lot more concentration...but i gotta say i cant get enough of KCHAT and VCPR, lmao!

Perhaps you haven\'t seen the fire effects in many PS2 games, including TimeSplitters 2 (amazing) and Baldur\'s Gate: Dark Alliance, Final Fantasy etc.

Not to mention that the best fire effects I have ever seen were in Resident Evil (remake) on the GameCube.

Riiight... Only XBox can do good fire effects

How do you know that?  And the slowdown can be quite annoying

No, it runs at 30fps, with slowdown.

Here\'s a tip, TV\'s can\'t display over 60fps.

how many people think that GTA 3 was better than GTA:VC. (like me).  Taking into consideration that GTA 3 was the first 3D incarnation.

I think because it was such a long game, I\'m not sure if I\'m ready to play GTA:VC, which initially looks like more of the same.

What are you talking about?

I\'m referring strictly to fire effects.

The PS2 has already shown special effects to be one of it\'s strengths.  I\'m almost positive that Square had some say in the massive amount of particle pushing power the PS2 has (it can push 175,000,000 particles per second).  Which is smaller than what the XBox can handle, but is more than enough for any true fire effects.

In fact, those fire effects in TimeSplitters 2 (on both PS2 and XBox) are probably some of the best in any game I\'ve ever seen.  With the exception of Resident Evil on gamecube.

And PSX would smoke up and start melting trying to handle Resident Evil - Rebirth.  :)
