From what you\'ve posted in this thread I conclude you\'ve played a yet-to-be-released NTSC version of the Getaway. I\'m here in Europe playin\' my PAL The Getaway copy and it\'s really better than you say. When driving I\'d say it rolls at about 50 to 60 fps.
It only dips ( 1 to 2 seconds at most) a bit when you drive into cropped crossings when particle fx like a smokin\' engine are involved. And the draw distance is still good.
So that\'s definately ALOT better than all those horror stories we heard from when the game was still in development. The allover visual quality is also crisp and clear, but of course I\'m talking PAL version here. The only downside is that the police chases can get a bit repetitive sometimes. The solution is to find the way to your destination immediately so you\'ll avoid that process.
On foot action is very good as well, though not as tight as MGS2.
The advanced shooting / stealth moves add much to the gameplay depending on the type of wall or object your character is near to. I already heard some ppl b1tch about the camera. Ok, at first it doesn\'t seem to be as flexible as MGS2\'s, but move Mark a bit differently at the wall and you\'ll notice the cam WILL adjust.
It just needs more planning your way ahead. It\'s somewhere in between MGS1, MGS2 and Winback. Now that can\'t be a bad thing, can it ?
The story is very good imo and it makes the cutscenes actually worth viewing (shame though we can\'t skip em when replaying) in contrast to that horrible MGS2 stuff. If you need to refresh on the mission outline just choose that in the option menu and a brief via audio explanation will be given, no lengthy horrid codec conversation here ! The character models act alot better than in MGS2 imo as well.
To conclude The Getaway :
graphics : 9,2
fun/replay value : 9,5
gameplay : 8,6
Final verdict : 9,1
