The Trinitron I got was a Dell. Cheaper than Sony...although the same monitor. :)

As I was saying before, many maufactures use the trinitron tube, buying the Sony name is a joke. Also keep in mind Dell monitors as well as other companys that use crt only use the trinitron tube, Sony does not design the dell monitor you buy, they only produce the tube.

If you are a lover of the trinitron tube, and are a fanatic of display quality, there is a company, can\'t remember the name right now(although this company is not mainstrem, they are popular amongst CAD/Graphic developers) that utilize the trinitron tube to it\'s fullest, far better than SONY themselves.

Well... I use NEC.  If you look at the proffessional line of their CRTs you really can\'t go wrong.  You end up paying double of what you normally would for that 21", but at the same time, there is a noticible difference.

I, for instance, see a great many "shades of black" on this website, and I\'m running at 1280x1024 easily at 85hz (and I could go to 100).

TFT is way too expensive for me now, maybe later.

But anyway, 15"TFT has a real 15" viewing angle, while a 15" CRT has something like 14" viewing angle.

Thus a 17"CRT will have something like 16" viewing angle. If u r not sure, just use a ruler or tape to measure from one diagonal area to the other. :)

Whoever said Samsung makes crap anything is retarded.  I\'m sorry, but the best TV on the market right now is a Samsung without a friggin doubt.  Their DLP technology has absolute black levels and it\'s friggin amazing with the right 1080i setup.  I think Vid and I have gone over this before in some TV related off-topic thread.

As for CRT or TFT, you can go either way honestly.  I\'d recommend you take advantage of a stores return policy, that\'s if you buy it in store of course, and try out a TFT and see if it floats your boat.  You won\'t get a finer Windows related display then a TFT for 32-bit applications and winXP, but when it comes to gaming, you might be a little miffed by the ghosting.  Some people get used to it while others are apalled by it.  I got used to it personally and love my TFT, but to each their own.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.
