Did i beat everyone else to it? Hee-hee.
Just has about 1 hour+ of hands on with Jak II last night....here\'s the initial impression:
(1) Graphics - polygon counts are upped although i don\'t think it makes such a difference. However, the bad news is, frame rates is down. Whereas Jak 1 has most of the time keeps to 60fps. There is some strange "tearing" effect that occurs very frequently. (Tearing is the effect of the frame rates not sync to the vertical retrace rate )...i suppose NDog needs to squeeze every frame rates available and turns the Vsync off...Still, it\'s not a very noticeable lag, but just don\'t expect Jak 1 smooth. Texture isn\'t very detail or amazing but it makes up by being pretty varied and it\'s decent enough and saved from being bland.
(2) Gameplay - the reviews were right, it plays a bit like GTA wheares you have to keep going across the town to the person who gives you a mission and to ur destination point after you\'ve received the mission instructions. I think this is the greatest downpoint of the game. The City of haven seems to serve no purpose other than transition area to move from mission briefing=>target=>mission briefieng. Imagine it as one big Warp Room. The problem is, when u get a car to go from one place to another it\'s very easy to bump into other cars or kill civillians. Once you\'ve done that the soldiers will be after you. It was fun the first few mission, but I don\'t think I\'ll like it when I\'m going for mission number 20....
(3) Overall - overall, i\'m quite dissapointed by Jak II. I personally feels it should have stick to the same concept of the prequel....now it\'s seems like neither a platform game, an action game or GTA......
